Paultons Park: General Discussion

At the time the Smiler opened X-Sector already had two supporting flats and Oblivion was re-painted to freshen it up against the shiny new ride.

It was only later that the area went downhill.
Why always the digs at Towers I hate it when people pick a part Towers every time Paulton's is mentioned. I love Paultons and Alton for different reason both have pro's and con's

X-Sector had Enterprise, Submission and Oblivion when it opened so was the only ride the area needed at the time. The Smiler is a more impressive ride than Drakon for the fact it has the inversion record and is a much larger ride
I was pointing out that Paultons have had the foresight to develop the area further and future proof existing attractions and invest in new infrastructure. X-Sector's decline was predictable.

When The Smiler was built, Submission was already in a poor state and had been for years. With one side working it had a low throughput and since it's arrival at the park it was hardly the most beloved ride. It's closure a few months later cannot have been a surprise, so it could have been considered earlier and replaced ahead of the 2013 season, not necessarily with a flat ride, but with anything except patch of grass.

Oblivion did get a repaint which was excellent, but it didn't received a station overhaul, for example, to the standard of Cobra/Raven. This is also now in a sorry state. With Paultons' station refit they are also making an excising attraction more cohesive with the newly themed area. Given the choice I'd rather have had The Smiler themed in Oblivions style, but if more effort had gone into the theme of The Smiler I'd have loved to have seen that expanded throughout X-Sector too.

Obviously the scale of these projects aren't comparable but AT had deeper pockets. Can't help but think the additional investment would have paid off.

For the record I also love both, more so Towers arguably, hence the nit-picking.
