Paultons Park: General Discussion

That’s fantastic news, it’s going to be fascinating to see what Paulton’s do here. And I wouldn’t necessarily put it past them to add a water coaster!

I wonder if they’ll look at moving Magma further over to towards Lost Kingdom where it would really fit in thematically or whether they might leave it where it is and give it a little retheme to fit in with whatever their new project will be?

Living not far and watching this park develop from a leisure park to what it is today, I generally hope that they get this permission as I know how much of a struggle it was with the previous planning problems with the edge and the Cobra on that site, potentially having to move them at one point.

This is a really exciting time for the uk, Paultons are really leading the way in the uk at the moment!

I hope they do get permission for the land to be classed as amusement park, but I'd imagine that is far from a foregone conclusion.

An Intamin Water Coaster on the cover of a planning document means very little mind. Could just be a nice stock image that they found.

They really upset the locals when they built Cobra and Edge without planning permission and if I remember they tried to get the rides removed but the park really has moved on in the past 10 years and with the road improvements I’m sure they won’t have problems getting this passed off.

Feels like it's another part of a larger puzzle what with them getting permission for building stuff to the other side of the site and go kart track.

IF its a water coaster, plus the fact they're adding a water based ride into Lost Kingdom it can mean they can remove the existing generic log flume and have another development plot.

I would love a water coaster in Paultons. It would be very unique.

I hope they do. It would fit in much better there. However, it definitely could be rethemed to fit in with something else. Volcanic island theme?

Yes, a volcanic island could be a possibility for theming perhaps. Thinking back to the survey they conducted last year wasn’t a jungle theme one of the options they suggested? I’ve always thought that Edge looked to have an Asian or tropical inspired colour scheme anyway and I think you can find cobras in jungles as well. Add in a volcano and a couple of water rides and you’d have the basis of a themed area there.

Looks more like a 'theme park' stock image to me, although it seems odd to put something of such scale on the front of a document which has a purposes of persuading the local authority to agree development.

Either way, very interesting! They are obviously still doing alright for themselves after the expense of Tornado springs on top of covid.

They really need to change the parks name as it just sounds like a budget park!

Some great parks around the world have very unassuming names.

Kennywood, Alton Towers, Efteling, Liseberg, etc. Not every park needs to be a something Land. Is the name Pauton’s Park really that much different to Thorpe Park? Besides, Paulton’s uses the Pepa Pig World name very prominently and there’s probably plenty of the GP that know it as such.

Paultons has such a good reputation and strong following associated to it they would be mad to change their name.
I'm not sure I agree - many people simply call it Peppa Pig World as if that's actually the name of the park. It almost sounds like the name of a holiday camp to me - possibly just due to the similarity with Pontins. I think if the park are committed to growing themselves into a full-scale family theme park now could be the right time for a rename - distancing themselves from Peppa Pig+ and signalling a major transformation in brand positioning. But they should probably wait until that planning application goes through first - which I don't think there's any guarantee of given the troubled history of that part of the park.

Most visitors search neither Paulton’s or Peppa pig theme park. It don’t need a new name. The looping group could have renamed Drayton Manor after they bought the park but they knew the Bryan’s built the brand and it’s name over the 70 years and Paulton been 40 years old only locals really had heard of it before Peppa pig was installed and all the money that IP made them has made them the fastest growing theme park over the past 10 years.

Thorpe don't even have a farm on-site anymore so if anything they should change the name due to flagrant false advertising.

Is this like the new popular thought pattern? Absolutely zero need for them to change the name of the park. They can build up the Paultons brand as they already have done.
