Paultons Park: General Discussion

That’s just blatantly false. They do radio advertising nationwide.
Commercial radio advertising, even on "national" stations, is strictly regionalised. Networks split their transmitters into specific territories, meaning someone listening to LBC on a standard radio in London is being served an entirely different slate of adverts than a listener in Manchester or Edinburgh.

The exception is often found with smart speakers or streaming apps. Although these platforms actively try to serve targeted ads using your IP address, UK internet traffic is frequently routed through massive central servers. When the network gets confused by your ISP's routing, it abandons the local targeting and defaults to the primary London broadcast feed. Masking your IP, using a VPN, etc has a similar effect.

Right so I have just magically avoided every single advert they have done up here then have I?

I’m sure there are some radio stations like LBC who’s target audience is south east who may have the odd advert but Paultons do not target the north. If you want proof of that the most targeted advertising form in existence is social media, the algorithm throws theme park adverts at me all the time but never have I had a Paultons one.

Even Chessington is minimal, Thorpe a little heavier.

I've never been served a Paultons ad in any form outside of around when I was looking for prices and the Ol' Al Gore picked it up for a week or so.

Outside of the waxworks I think it was mostly a tax and accounting thing. But it doesn’t exist anymore except high level creative direction and wax works so it’s not really a factor now.
And LEGO Production. The largest division of MMM.

In general I'd say Ash's description of what MMM should be is how it is set up now. Wax and LEGO Production being the exception as both of these are tied to their respective brands.

Remember though that MMM don't just add new attractions, they expand Merlin's brands into new locations. This adds a lot of roles your standard theming company doesn't cover. With Paultons being a single park they have no need for this. But other chains like Disney and Universal do, which is why the likes of Imaginering and Universal Creative exist.

Speaking of adds on my neck of the woods, been hearing more about Efteling radio adds of late in which I'm sure the majority of the country doesn't know where it is but none for any other UK park other than the Merlin parks and maybe sometimes the odd chance for a Flamingo land ad.

Back on topic.....

In the latest Paultons update on YouTube, they put some very quick photos on the screen of some food when they were talking about the feasting hall.

Do we think that's a teaser of the actual food that might be on the menu?

The food looks good enough but I was expecting something a little more in theme like rotisserie Chicken, Turkey legs or maybe something BBQ/ Flame grilled related. Looks very similar to Thier other food outlets

The level of theming just keeps blowing my mind. There's animatronic theming on Raven's entrance sign as well!

Looking at the footers this could possibly be a clone of the Mack water coaster at Djurs Sommerland. The only reason I think its one of these and not the launch model is coz of the speed. They hinted last year how Drakon will be the fastest coaster "to date". The launch coasters max out at about 33mph

How tall is the one at Djours Sommerland compared to Drakon? I'm sure they also hinted that it would be taller than Drakon.
