Phantasialand: General Discussion

There are two mobile cranes on site now, also the first piece of support has been installed, which looks very similar to the ones used by vekoma to test the new loading-system for flying coasters:

Oooh, how exciting! We'll be getting a much better idea about this coaster in the coming months I would assume. That looks very much like a Vekoma support (as expexted) rather than a B&M support.

Hi, looking at getting out to Phantasialand next year (march/April time) but looked on the website at accommodation today and it's saying almost €3000 for 2 people for 2 nights. :/ Which doesn't seem very reasonable to me. Is this likely to be right or might it be because they haven't sorted prices that far in advance.
(Also if anyone has got any tips for doing it on a budget then they would be much appreciated! )

I'm pretty sure that's an error somewhere. We stayed in June for 4 nights at Ling Bao and it was around the £350pp mark. Phantasialand itself I found to be reasonably priced, if you stay clear of the bottled water and soft drinks then you should be okay as they're extortionate for some reason.

We were a bit impatient when we got there and decided on a taxi from Cologne to Phantasialand which was expensive. On the way back we found it was very easy by public transport and very cheap. Train from airport to Cologne, change (take in some sights if you can) then a train from Cologne to Bruhl, there's a shuttle service from Bruhl station to the park, we didn't pay for it when we were there, I'm not sure if it's free all the time.

If you're wanting to cut down on budget by buying your own drinks/alcohol then buy them before you get to Phantasialand because once there you're very much out of the way for anything, 2 of my friends went on a 'beer run' and returned over an hour later after walking a fair few miles to a shop lol

Glad to hear it probably won't be €3000! I think we're going to try and use public transport if we can so glad that it seems fairly simple to naviagte. Haha, yeah I've heard it's not the best location for popping out anywhere!

I'd advocate a rental car for Phantasialand. It's fairly reasonably priced and gives you freedom to do more when in the area.

I don't like being confined to a resort, personally.

Rental car is a live safer, if you can do that. We've managed to do car hire, hotel (2 nights), flights and car parking in Manchester for just under £180pp. Just fuel, food/beer tokens and park tickets to pay for now.

I use trams for Phantasialand. With the shuttle, it's easy and cheap.

The public bus service is easy enough to use and good valve.

If they're cramming the longest flyer in the world into that space I can see there being a lot of near miss style riding. We've seen what they can do with such a small space. :D

According to Loopings, the park are already doing the rounds of requesting images of the construction to be removed from the internet. Oops.

Agreed @Rob - I miss the mystery in new rides with updates and the like, but Phantasialand's approach to this is asinine.

I have purposefully ignored the SW8 topic and places where updates and the like are posted. I'm not sure how possible it is, but I'd like to wander into the park on opening day next year and have little idea as to the ride. My only 'updates' are those I see when I walk past the ride.

I think there is a little bit of lost art in terms of the way planning permission documents get dug through, people fly stuff over the park in the winter... I understand why people do, but - wandering into the park on the day Oblivion opened was a wonderful feeling, not really knowing what was going to be there.

Hmm wonder when this will open.... it must be 2018 if they are building now, the theming probably could take a year to install though knowing PL
