Phantasialand: General Discussion

Is there any sign that the 4d cinema is opening soon? Sure I read of a summer opening. Surely looking at the next 3 weeks of that's the case (ahead of school holidays)

I can’t see anywhere that suggests a summer 2025 opening except for one Facebook article with no source?

This was the article that lead with the Summer 2025 story.

By the look of those other openings, to be taken with a large pinch of salt then 😂

Flying in around 4pm on a Saturday next month. Plan is to grab something to eat at Cologne airport or cologne train station. Must be food I can grab and go as I've a tight window for the shuttle bus. Any recommendations for somewhere that I can take some food away from? (2 kids and wife with me with 3 suitcases - quicker the better 😂),.

You have bakeries, an express supermarket (REWE to Go), the major fast food chains, Starbucks etc. at the main train station. It has more choice than the airport. If you can eat what you get with a Cathedral view (literally outside the station).

If the airport works better for you, there is a (larger) REWE supermarket and some cafes/fast food above the airport train station in Terminal 1 before the security entrance. It is not worth trekking to/from Terminal 2 unless you are desperate for McDonalds for some reason.
[FYI if you are flying back out of Cologne airport checking-in hold luggage it can be confusing. You have to walk all the way to Terminal 2 to drop your luggage off, then head to security in Terminal 1. You then have to walk all the way back airside to Terminal 2. Note that Terminal 1 has better facilities].

Cologne Train Station has plenty of decent bakeries on the platforms and in the passage underneath. But it’s also worth stepping outside the station to gawp at the cathedral. Even with suitcases.

Thank you. Do I assume these supermarkets have self service?

The majority of REWE supermarkets now have self-service, although like most technological developments in Germany, the trend has been slower than the rest of Europe to catch on. I can’t speak for that particular branch, but I’d be surprised if most if not all staff don’t also speak English, in case that’s your concern? Perhaps you’re just friendlier with machines.

The one in Cologne train station definitely has self service as I’ve used it. Don’t know about the airport one but everyone spoke basic English when I flew out of Cologne in May.

Just FYI if your window is that tight you're really at risk of being late from the various things that can add 30 mins to an hour when arriving at any airport, such as luggage delays.

It's worth knowing what your backups are, taxi via Uber is possible and for a family surprisingly affordable per person. Even with 2 we just took the train/tram down from Cologne station to one of the stations nearby and got an Uber, worth the £5 extra pp compared to waiting around for the shuttle in the cold (December for us), but if you have to it's only a 30 minute ride out from Cologne centre which wouldn't exactly be cheap but better than being stuck and not knowing it's an option 🙂

Thank you. Think our plan is to get to Brühl and if we've missed that last shuttle then Uber it. 👍🏼
Uber cost from Airport is £63 right now.
Cost from Cologne Train Station £30
From Brühl £21
At least it's an option if we need it. Assuming I need to charge my Uber app find up a euro friendly cash card too.

All the new Fantasy area additions opened today.

The park's manager Chris Theis shared these pictures on Instagram of the new restaurant "Phenie's Shakes & Pancakes". Attached to the restaurant is also an outdoor take away stand for milkshakes and smoothies.

No official opening window has been announced or confirmed by the park.

Work has been ongoing on site with Kraftwerk (media attractions company) and delivery of new seating from them a while ago, the building has been repainted and entry/exits reworked. It is obviously not comparable to any of the brand new group up themed areas; a realistic presumption would be likely later this year at best or at worse start of the 2026 season.

Hi all,

I went to Phantasialand with some friends during the winter event and it was rammed! This has left a bad taste, we are in cologne again in a few weeks time. They said they would only return if there was fast pass, I didn’t realise ‘quick pass’ was a thing? It’s not on their website? How do you go about getting it? Any recommendations would be great.

Hoping the new 4D cinema will be open for then.

Thanks

There is guest services on the square with the wave swinger in Berlin (it’s next to the toilets). You can buy quick passes there. They sell two types, one for €10 and one for €20 euros. The €20 is Quick Pass Plus and includes Taron.

Details are on the website if you search for it.

From what I gather they are only available onsite on the day and are quite limited.

There are also options when you stay in the various hotels that include Quick Passes though doesn’t sound like that will be an option here.
