PortAventura: General Discussion

I have to give credit that Ice Age looks a little better than expected - there is at least some theming elements unlike their last special Sea Odyssey movies where no attempt was made to hide the fact the films didn't always fit in. It is still a shame that the park have not used an original IP/idea, although I guess there is potential for the future.

The new website design is a massive improvement and looks very clean and modern. It manages very well to promote the resort side and hotels, and expect when complete will highlight the Golf and Beach Club as well.

A new rumour suggests the launch coaster in Ferrari Land will be 458 ft, so will be even taller than Kingda Ka.

Today PortAventura have released the entertainments and attractions schedule for the 1st White Night event of the 2015 season. The event includes the largest selection of entertainments ever performed on a White Night as well as many of the Parks attractions opening until midnight bar certain attractions that close during the fireworks. Kingda Ka is awesome, sheer thrill. Hopefully PA's version with have lapbars like TTD though.

Never been a fan but hey! Will not question your opinion... ;) Would rather have a Ferrari themed Eltoro with over shoulders restraints :)

El Toro with Intamin OTSRs sounds like an absolutely horrible ride. I'd be very surprised if the new PA coaster had lapbars though, Intamin seem to have abandoned that idea with their launched coasters.
 
Happy Birthday PortAventura! (and Dragon Khan) ;)

Notice boards have gone up around the Park showing additional entertainments for the official 20th Birthday today. There are also a few Chinese celebrations happening around Dragon Khan today as it also turns 20. It's nice to see the Parks signature attraction looking very well 20 years on unlike Nemesis.

Dragon Khan hardly has theming to look after therefore comparisons with Nemesis are a bit harsh.

Of course, it's no excuse for the old girl being in a state!

Even theming aside Nemesis is still a state. But you have to say Dragon Khans station is looking much better than Nemesis' ;)

I agree. The track re-paint when Shambhala was installed as well as the additional theming which was added have given the ride a whole new lease of life and it remains one of the best rides in the park, many would even say the best (except for crazy people like me who prefer Baco).

It's very pleasing to see older rides like Stampida and Khan receiving attention, but not having to close for ages for refurbishment like the DLP coasters.
 
I agree with you.

I mean, Drayton have repainted Shock Wave and G Force in recent years. Towers only Oblivion.

But Nemesis does have more actual theming to look after than something like Khan, which is also far more exposed.
