Correct.
In regards to Christmas Day, there is certainly a big demand for visiting parks on this day. It’s regularly Disney’s busiest day of the year, with phased park closings, which happened in California this year.
I guess PA will have looked at their hotel occupancy during times when the parks are closed and seen an opportunity to increase revenue (albeit some of their hotels close at different times if the year anyway).

Disney parks are often full on Xmas Day so there is obviously a market for it.
It's not for me though but then I think English tradition at Xmas is kind of drummed into us. We gather with family, we eat Turkey and Chocolates, we watch the Queen say her piece or not depending on how you feel about the Royals, we watch films and basically sit around all day chilling out. Oh and we drink lots of beer and wine

As has already been said, a lot of Spanish people tend to celebrate on 6th January as opposed to 25th December; I know it's certainly when children get their presents in Spain, as we had to do a whole block on Spanish festivals as part of our Spanish GCSE.
As for PortAventura opening on Christmas Day; most year-round parks do, and most year-round parks do still seem to generate a decent amount of business on Christmas Day. I think the idea of spending Christmas at a theme park is more popular than you'd expect; I've known people who spent Christmas at Walt Disney World, for example.

That's my understanding too. Like I said above they also like to eat with family on Xmas Eve evening and being British and not knowing the local customs we felt somewhat under dressed when in the Colorado Creek buffet that night. I felt more relaxed about the situation though after the free alcohol they served.

Theme parks, water parks and zoos in Spain and Canaries are always open on Christmas Day.

Get the express pass, when your staying onsite you can get one what is unlimited for your whole stay for around €70. It’s really worth it! I always get it when staying onsite.

Shrek, Donkey and Princess Fiona return to PortAventura in 2020 (after appearing as a meet 'n' greet during Christmas) in a new musical show at the Temple Magic Jing-Chou in China.

Pyrotechnic show on the Mediterrania Lagoon.
NEW: BMX Stunt Show
Stunt show in Ferrari Land.

The fastrack mess at PA is pretty much beyond fixing at this point. I wouldn't entertain the idea of visiting PA without using it as the queues at that place are such an abject misery even at relatively off-peak times, so the best outcome at this point is they don't increase the amount they sell any further so the FT queues don't get any longer.
They could probably reduce the amount of unlimited FT they sell significantly but still have to run rides at 50% FT, so reducing allocations would offen not help the main queues at all.

I'm going to be there for a week at the end of May but we're now staying offsite so won't get any of these perks anyway. Seriously looking forward to finally getting on Red Force. I need it to complete the set as I have ridden the two Strata's in the states despite being further away.
Shambhala will no doubt creep back up my top ten as well after getting back on it for first time in ages. Best hyper I Have ridden I would say.

Family holiday so we won't be going to the parks everyday. Want a good 4/5 days chilling doing nothing. In fact I think we're going to opt for just the two day tickets tbh. Plenty of time to get some rides in. My lad will only be 6 too so won't be getting on any of the big rides just yet. Shambhala single rider line will be getting hammered a fair bit. YES!
