Re: Quick Questions 2013

So, I'm planning a day trip for sometime in mid-late July or early August. Of course it's going to be busy whenever I go during that period, what with school trips and summer holidays, but are there any 'good' times to go during that period, when it's a bit quieter than the rest of the time?

Thanks! :)

Re: Quick Questions 2013

How much is the Alton Towers bus from Stoke train station, what are the times it leaves and how long does it take?

Thanks.

There's some info on here if you're interested:

To be honest, it's significantly easier and more convenient to just get the train to Uttoxeter and get the 32A from there.

EDIT - Don't want to double post so I'll ask this here. Was just looking at the Stoke timetable; does anyone know what LP/LPS/NX stands for?

Re: Quick Questions 2013

LP stands for Leek & Potteries, Don't have a clue what the other two mean though, might just be made up as they'd need route names/numbers.

Re: Quick Questions 2013

X is usually used for express (so less stops/shorter route).
N is usually night/an altered version for a late service

No idea if that's what they mean in this.

The earlier you can go in July, the better, having gone on the 19th with school last year, it was horribly busy, queues up to 3 hours... So if you can't go early July, I'd suggest a sunday after schools have broken up- from experience sundays are the quietest summer holiday day, however any really rainy, miserable days during holidays will be considerably quieter.

Same as this really. I know someone who went in Summer and the only things they got on were Nemesis, Duel and Sharkbait Reef. As long as you don't mind the weather, make sure you go on a day where the weather's pretty miserable if you want a quieter day. It might not be much different at the beginning of the day but people usually leave a lot quicker. :)

Re: Quick Questions 2013

When I went to the park on Sunday I noticed that the daisy train was split up the front half was in the storage area by Duel and the other was still on the track in the maintenance area, can somebody tell me what's happened to it?

Re: Quick Questions 2013

Hello and welcome to Towers Street!

I assume that the monorail train in question is undergoing routine maintenance, and is out of service. If anything major had happened, I am sure it would have been well documented! I was on Resort on Sunday and nothing appeared to be wrong!

We do have a Quick Questions topic which you can find by clicking here for such queries, where a member of the site will respond if they are able to answer it!

Hope that's helped!

It did, and it was ;)

The Daisy train has been living at the back of the depot since then, and has been out of action. Trains are regularly taken out of service and given work (I think it's the strawberry train at the moment?), but sadly Daisy train was well and truly broken last I heard :(

Aha, Whoops! Error on my part - I assumed that this had been resolved since August (I remember it happening), however evidently not. I answered in the above manner as I assumed things had been sorted. Eek!

Re: Quick Questions 2013

They tend to work on one train each season - but obviously Daisy needs a bit more work ;)

Re: Quick Questions 2013

So did two train hit each other?

When I heard about it I thought that the switch had moved out of place and the train had to make a E-stop.

And I didn't class it as a quick question beacuse I think quick questions only need one reply

Re: Quick Questions 2013

Only the one train was involved. It was traveling down the straight section between Gloomy Wood and Forbidden Valley and it hit the turning switch track, causing it to stop suddenly. It caused significant damage to the chassis of the Daisy I believe, which is why it's not been able to run.

Re: Quick Questions 2013

From what I hear they are trying to fix the Daisy train and get it back working again soon (no idea how soon im afraid).

I went today and more of the train was oof the track.

It won't be the first time it was! Check out Talbot Street Tuesday and you can see an entire train off the track in '86 or '87!
