Quick Questions

There are probably better people on here to answer, but I reckon it's probably going to be less busy than usual, mainly because they're still capping visitor numbers but are now able to run (most) rides at full capacity. Also the extended opening hours (currently until 7pm at least) should help as well. Will be there next Sunday so will try to report back!
 
I am going to Alton Towers this weekend, staying at the Alton Towers Hotel with my family. When we arrive, I know I go straight to the hotel car park and park up, then do we head straight to the park or do we need to go to hotel reception first?

We used to always go to the hotel reception first to take our bags in and collect our room key later. But since Covid, they weren't taking our bags. Not sure if this is still the case. So there's little point now in going to reception first now

If you go to reception you can get the proof of stay needed to enter via the Galactica gates (or if any other benefit is being offered to hotel guests, which I don't think there is right now). Also can drop any bags off then the porters will take them to your room once its ready, we like doing that as can leave car key in the bag rather than carrying it round in the park.
For the car park proof is only potentially needed on exit the next day so that's not a concern.

Ah, I've not been since they started allowing entry via those gates.
But my last stay (fireworks 2019) they did give fast track to hotel guests so it was worth going to reception first to collect the FT card, but the benefit was only given out at scarefest and fireworks as there was no ERT I think.

As of a few weeks ago they weren't taking your bags like normal due to Covid. The only proof of access you need is your printed tickets or the original PDF in your email on your phone to prove you're staying to enter via Galactica.
 
We want to go for 3 days in September but there doesn't seem to be an option to buy a 3 day ticket. Is there any other option than having to buy a 2 day ticket and then a 1 day ticket for our trip? Thanks.

As far as I know that is your only option at the moment.

You could get a Merlin Discovery Pass if you were visiting weekdays only, but I think that actually works out £10 or so more expensive than just getting 2 days tickets plus a one day ticket, so would only really work if you also planned to a visit a Merlin attraction again within the next year. But check the exclusion dates carefully as there are a lot of them.

Thanks. We travel from N.Ireland and only get one visit a year so will just go with the 2 day and then 1 day ticket option.

How long is piece of string question now. We are planning to be on park September 1st, 2nd and 3rd. I know the park closes 4pm on these dates, I assume it should be relatively quiet Vs August weekdays?

Yes it will most definitely be super quiet on those days, as most schools will have gone back. :)

the local schools go back on the 2nd September so should be quiet that day. Opening times might be extended to 5pm though.
Do you really need three days on park? Do you have CBeebies age kids?
Two days would probably be plenty if you don’t need to do CBeebies.
Could even do a third day in the waterpark for something different.

No CBeebies. Our kids are in their late teens and don't want to go anywhere with us . 2 days would do us to be fair and would work out a lot cheaper.

2 day tickets booked. Can't wait.

I assume because we had to enter a date when buying the tickets there is no need to pre book the days we are going like we did last year (we had annual passes then).
 
Hi! Long-time reader, First-time poster...
I was wondering if anyone could clear something up for me. I'm currently trying to book to go to AT tomorrow using a 241 voucher but the website won't let me book anything before Friday. Initially I assumed the park was at capacity but if I try to get a full price ticket it lets me have tomorrow no problem. Does anyone know if I can just turn up on the gates tomorrow and use the voucher or does it have to go through the booking system now? Thanks.

Welcome to the forum! I'm a recent addition myself. I think they limit the number of vouchers that are able to be used each day so they are effectively on there own capacity. I think you still have to pre-book and cannot just turn up on the day. Your only option would be to buy a day ticket. I may be incorrect on this but I'm sure some else might know more.
 
Yes they have limits on each type of ticket, eg merlin passes, 2 for 1, Rainy day, etc.

So if it’s showing unavailable it means you can’t go using the voucher. Also you can’t buy ticket on the day on park.
 
If you book rollercoaster restaurant as a regular guest of the park for the day, not hotels, and your reservation is after the rides close how do you exit the park?

Going to assume the hotel exit and that the standard car park would be sensible as it's closer, albeit the longer walk in the morning.

Take you can't have a sneaky walk around the empty park and exit at the main entrance if we'll after closing?
