Quick Questions

Hello!

Long time lurker, first time poster ...

I don't suppose if anyone knows whether AT are doing their usual 40% off short breaks offer this January? I'm sure it's normally around now, but there doesn't seem to be any sign of one this year.

I'm desperate to take the kids back to cbeebies land, but at £448 (not including park & waterpark tickets), they can think again!

Welcome :)

It seems Merlin have had a change of strategy this year as none of their UK attractions are offering any January sale discounts on overnight stays as they have previously done.

It may well be that due to the popularity of UK breaks at the moment that they feel they can fill enough rooms without needing to offer discounts.

Thanks for the reply!

That is a shame, I hadn't thought of looking at the other merlin attractions as well.

From the outside looking in, it seems like a ludicrous decision that could cost them. I could well imagine a large proportion of their bookings are utilised with that early bird offer in previous years, but I guess that's easy to say when I can't see the stats!

Hi Steve, welcome to the forum!

Is it important for your family to stay on resort? There are lots of good B&Bs in the local area and you can get good deals on day passes if you book in advance or use discount codes. The hotels have become too expensive for what they're currently offering; only if people vote with their feet will that ever change.

Reasonably quick one, anyone know if theirs a list, or would be willing to help compile a list of songs originally played around spinball whizzer on opening? There doesn’t seem to be anything anywhere…

Ones I can remember (I think):

The beach boys - Barbara Ann
The beach boys - I get around
The beach boys - Surfin USA
Eddie Cochran - Summertime Blues
JXL - A little less conversation

Please move to a new topic if needed.

Is anyone used merlin annual pass on the Alton Towers rides
There’ll be plenty of people here who have Merlin Annual Passes (or MAP for short) but they only gain you access to Merlin parks. For Fastrack passes for the rides (I.e far less time spent queuing) you need to buy Fastrack which are available either as solo tickets (so 1 ticket = 1 ride) or as packages where you get a selection of rides depending on how much you spend. The platinum Fastrack allows you unlimited Fastrack access to rides that participate, but you pay the price. It’s currently priced at £105 per person.

MAPs and season passes allow regular visitors the option to visit whenever they want for one annual payment, although some dates are excluded depending on the type of pass you get.
