Quick Questions

Sadly not. Never came back after it was removed during covid.
That's ridiculous. So what are you supposed to do visiting with 2 adults and one child?

Is there anything to stop you queuing with a child as a 3 and doing your own parent swap in the station? The hight restrictions are for the ride, not the queue...

Don’t think so. I don’t have kids but I’ve queued many times for Rita and Oblivion with my wife who has no intention of riding them. She just quickly shuffles through and waits for me by the exit 😀

Technically the height restriction does apply to the queue lines as well. This will be enforced by hosts at the ride entrance. However I'm sure that's only Wicker Man and The Smiler so you could get away with it on other rides.

You won't be allowed to wait on the ride platform, and I'm unsure if they'd let one of you wait with your child at the exit to do the swap, even if you've all queued. I'm thinking not.

The way I would do it is split up when you join the queue. One adult go ahead first, the other a bit later with the child. The first adult rides and then waits outside the exit, and then when the adult with child gets to the ride, the child just walks across to the exit and meets them there.

They really should bring back parent swap, it's a sensible system that allowed families to have a much better time at the park, it makes sense for the park to bring it back as I think it could well be a deciding factor in whether to visit or not for some families.

We've sort of got away with it today, but it has meant we've had to skip a few things we wanted to ride. No parent swap effectively doubles the queue time for our party to ride anything, while half the visitors jump the queue because they're happy to abuse a system designed to help those in actual need.

It will certainly be a deciding factor in my liklihood if returning as a family of 3. Its a bit of a farce that it's not available really.

Quick question for everyone (suites the topic then I suppose):
Has anyone used the X41 bus from Stafford Station to Towers? Is it reliable, does it take much longer than the timetable?

I'm gonna say No and Yes, but will leave it to the locals to supply a more informed answer!

Looking to visit during the 1st week of October (between Oktoberfest and Scarefest) but I want to make sure we have late opening. Last time I went during a 4pm close, we got lots done but still felt too rushed after lunch and needed more time. Does anyone know when the park opening hours update? I remember last year they updated nearer the time for Oktoberfest but we all need to book annual leave with work so can't leave it too late to choose a date. Any help or general advice much appreciated!

Unfortunately the days before Scarefest are some of the quietest days on park, followed closely by the week in between fireworks and Scarefest. I highly doubt you’ll get anything more than a 4pm close on a weekday and a 5pm close on weekends depending on when scarefest begins.

Ah ok thanks, so I'm best going in the last week of Oktoberfest instead to increase the likelihood of a 6pm close?

Based on last years hours you are likely to get 5pm ride close during the week for Oktoberfest but the entertainment on the lawns continues until an hour after ride close so you can still watch a show and have something to eat/drink after.

Based on the queues last year that week, a 5pm close was sufficient to get plenty of rides in.

I can't attend any earlier otherwise I'd go on a day included in my gold Merlin annual pass but think we're gonna go on the 31st of October for scarefest with this being a restricted day upgrade for £20 would that also require us to pay for parking for the day, thanks.

Hi there,

We are planning to visit this Saturday and buy tickets using a combi of Tesco clubcard & student discount. We'd quite like a 2 day pass to go on the Sunday as well. Does anyone know if they still offer you to add a 2nd day for £10 a person to upgrade on the day? We've seen this offer when we've been there a few times but wondered if it was always an option.

Thanks

Unfortunately this is no longer an option. If you want to visit for 2 days it’s a case of having to purchase a 2 day ticket up front (which I don’t think is possible using vouchers and the like), so it’s worth checking the price online without vouchers to see what you are looking at. It is likely to be £52 for a 2 day ticket at the weekend.

Is the lawn that's walled off opposite woodcutters and Hex protected? Does it have a special name?
