Relationship Advice

My problem.
I really like this girl in my year,we are friends and everything, but I am just a shy little bugger with not much confidence. I am a nice person to my close friends with (I show this by annoying them) but I appear as a tough old rugby playing boy to all people I am just friends with.I think this may put her off of going out with me as everyone mocks someone who is going out with someone who isn't classed as "super cool".
