Ride Availability/Operations 2022-24

Ops very mixed today. Got in 13s queue with queue time stating an hour, ended up taking us 2hrs20min to get to the front. Lack of trains didn’t help with poor management of flow of fast track queue into main queue. They did have baggage hold on but that didn’t seem to help.

Smiler on the other hand was running beautifully with a baggage hold and srq - very fast moving queue.

I think one of the big issues at the moment is less people spread across rides on park- with no Nemesis chewing up throughput there’s more people in the queues for the other big rides. I know it’s the Easter holidays, but usually queues seemed a little smaller on average on a rainy Easter break day.
Over double the estimated time is so bad. Thirteen always seems to be more than it says so it only being on 2 train will make that even worse

It does seem like they’re having some issues with estimating Thirteen’s queue time when it’s on 2 trains. I had a similar experience to you on 25th March, albeit not quite as extreme; the queue was advertised 45 minutes, but we waited 105 minutes.

I would also concur with Smiler having phenomenal operations; the operations on my visit were certainly the fastest I’ve ever seen on there!

This is a guess and only a guess but based on some of the issues we are having with parts for medical equipment I wonder if they can’t get parts for Galactica so are having to harvest from one craft to keep two crafts going.

I could easily be very wrong on that though.

We're having issues in survey with some parts. Global shortage of parts still.

On a lesser scale, I also waited far longer than advertised for TH13TEEN a couple of days ago. It was advertised as 5 minutes, however I waited for 20.
I agree on The Smiler. The operations were sublime on my visit!

What is going on with Thirteen for them to be consistently so far off?

I wonder if the nature of the queue line perhaps means that is harder for someone to estimate from a particular vantage point ?
That’s a good point. It is very hidden, and I can imagine that a lot of it looks quite similar on CCTV and such.

If they overestimate queuetimes, they are wide open for accusations of pushing fasttrack unfairly.
Just do a proper competent job of estimating the queue, not that difficult, it is managed on other rides... if someone does occasional checks on the queuelength, fasttrack and rap, hardly rocket science.
Been done in the past easily enough, don't make allowances for general incompetence.

I miss those little signs which told you how long it was from certain points. I assume they were removed because of fast track, RAP and the fact they can’t get their backsides in gear and run at full train capacity (such as 13 and Galactica recently)

Last Sunday 13 was advertised at 50 and it took me 55, so I’m guessing you’ve got a load of “queue jumping” rich people cutting line ahead of you for it to take that long.

Agreed. The RAP queues are just crazy now. Alton need to clamp down on what actually counts as a reason why someone can’t stand in a queue because let’s be honest here, some of the RAP queues I have seen are at least 30 minutes. If the reason someone has RAP is because they can’t queue, yet can stand in a 30 min RAP queue then something is seriously a miss.

Quite ironic that people applying for Rap because they can't queue end up queuing an hour anyway
