Ride Availability/Operations 2022-25

Absolutely dead on park today. Was here on Tuesday and comparatively a very different story!
No movement over at Rita but screens and audio still playing- Alton Towers must not have a smart meter as that’d be the first thing I’d switch off!

No thunder and lighting yet!
The weekend when kids breakup is always quiet really isn’t it. Everyone goes abroad or whatever or people usually think the first weekend will be packed so don’t bother.

The weather obviously isn’t helping.

Everything has just gone down for “weather” it’s not windy, it’s very sunny, has been at least 25 minutes since everything went down. We are sat in Just Chicken and saw Smilers queue get evacuated, a lot of other stuff is closed too not just coasters. Sub terra is open though… yay!

Edit: because of a potential storm apparently.

This happened yesterday. Had the bad weather in the morning then at 2pm once it had cleared I started getting texts about bad weather and ride closures. We left just as the rides were shut but the weather was fine. I think they were expecting a storm but we found this to be over Birmingham on the way back rather than Stoke.

Yeah they have to close all outdoor attractions if lightning is within a certain distance from the park. That's why you may find rides closing even though the weather at the park looks fine.

Yeah it’s thundering here now, come out of no where tbh
happened yesterday too, was alking back to the car, walked out of the turnstile place and it was cloudy with no rain, by the time i reached the bag check it was hammering it down, thunder and lightning, quite odd.

we had a few weather closures yesterday, so not too suprising, especially considering the recent hot weather there are going to be a few storms.

Really need more indoor rides and attractions and there's an entire area with 3 unused buildings that could house an indoor ride

Do we know if they have triggered free returns for today? I have family on park and they are unsure what the situation is

I haven’t had any notifications for it so no probably not.

Update: everything reopened 20 minutes ago so we headed Toxicator when we heard the announcement of it reopening, 3 minutes later whilst we waited in the queue it closed because of a technical problem. 5 minutes later everything is back closed again and had been since. We’ve gotten on 2 rides today.

Guest Services about to be busy

thunderstorms used to have a smaller radius in which they’d close rides and they had a situation a couple of years ago where they lost power and pretty much had to evacuate every coaster so it’s not surprising the radius has gotten bigger.

As the outdoor rides have been closed all afternoon, I imagine they will do free returns to ticket holders.
Pass holders can sod off and come back another day.
Did they actually get any thunder I wonder.
