Dude. It's gone. Lol! I would love it to return but I think it's had it & will used for spares I think it was said elsewhere.
Maybe it's having parts taken out and used as spares for other Merlin rides AND being sent to Huss for what's left to have a major refurb and be all new and shiny. Or it's made a runner to the Bahamas after hearing whispers it was being cut from the 2016 lineup.
I think the pictures showing bits cut off the main structure help firmly deny the idea that it's coming back to Towers!
Right, I've moved a number of posts from here to a new thread in 'Rest of the World Parks and Attractions' regarding the mangement of theme parks. It's great to have such good discussion so please do carry on with it over there and we can leave this thread for remember everyone's favourite former Towers flat ride!
@DiogoJ42 do you miss the Breakdance more? Otherwise I agree. Big loss to the park. They really should replace it like for like with a newer model IMO.
Even though, if we're honest, it didn't really fit the theme of the area, it was one of those rides that was just "part of the furniture". Never tired of watching it.
@TheMan I sort of agree with that. Weren't suppose to be a deceive the Nemesis monster threw or something like that? I might be confusing it with Blade actually.
I don't really know is the honest answer lol! With most I find the themes at Towers important, but that was one ride I'd give a pass to because it just somehow slotted in. Just had a personality about it. Was brilliant to ride in her heyday as well. (oo er missus)
For me Ripsaw was put in at a time when Alton Towers was changing. And everything was exciting. We'd had Nemesis now Ripsaw... What was to come! And like some have said... It was a part of AT history and maybe not ready to go. Let's get some flats back.
The thing with Forbidden Valley's flats, they seem to have a theme for the sake for having one when they were installed. For example, with Blade, it was relocated from Fantasy World due to the construction of Oblivion, and since this was at a time Towers were in their peak and wanted everything to look nice, they had to give a theme to fit in with the area. I'll give them the effort for trying and they succeeded, Rippy looked brilliant when it opened!
Ripsaw would have worked well in Dark Forest and X Sector in terms of fitting a theme. (If it was relocated instead of removed I mean)
I think it would have fit great where submission was. Maybe because I was a fan of Energizer too. Although if it was in Dark Forrest, because it's so flat around there it would have made it seam like a huge ride. Could have been cool.
Only thing I would say about that is they would have plastered a dark theme on a ride that was colourful and imposing. Would have fitted well as a support ride to The Smiler though. Perfect fit really.
Yes, it would have looked great slotting straight into X sector. In dark Forrest it would have needed some ****ty vines growing around it.
How so? Aesthetically it worked with Nemesis perfectly, even as part of the narrative of the area that it's rusty old machinery used for excavation worked well.
And scaffolding. Don't forget scaffolding. And you would need to escape it by riding it and arriving, er, back where you started. Yeah I do get that it just didn't quite fit for me, fitted better than air of course, but it didn't matter because it was such a spectacle to watch & engaged passers by or non riders just as air & Nemesis did so it fitted the feel IMO perfectly if not quite the theme.
