Due to it being a weekday it will most likely be quite quiet, have fun!
Our TowersStreet Scarefest Meet topic is now live - please join us on Saturday 17th and/or Sunday 18th October at the park. Details by clicking the link - including meeting times and maze booking details!
Thanks! Had looked at a site that said the whole of scarefest was really busy, so I had looked at the fastpass's for a few rides, but I'd rather use the cash on the scare maze's instead. I know it's not the English School holidays until the following week so hopefully won't be too bad.
Regarding the Maze's - if I book online and select a time 9say 3pm) what will the queues be like for the Maze's as it says you need to do all 3 within 40 minutes or something like that.
It really depends what day you go with regards to queues, but normally they aren't too fussy if you go over the 40 minutes. We had to queue nearly an hour and a half last year for the sanctuary and they still let us go to ToTT without question.
Was passing by the containers today and noticed they'd been doing some cutting/grinding if anyone's interested:
Shame I was looking forward to walking into the wall!
Don't worry, with any luck you'll be able to trip over the bottom step or something instead
with all those doors now theres nothing left of that container
Remember the good old days when scare mazes were in large marquees that could fit decent sets in them?
And the theming continues.
Painting the containers black.
At least they look less garish painted black. Looks far neater than a mixture of differently coloured containers sat next to one another.
Hopefully they'll cover it with mesh or something or like those printed metal fence covers
Depends if you need them, Towers are lucky enough to have very big house for that sort of stuff, this is just a small extension.
And no one complained about them being used on Carnival (or experiment 10 for that matter) probably because no one noticed. At the end of the day it's a temporary structure, if it wasn't for Merlins obsession with using them in their permenant attractions too I doubt anyone would care they where being used here.
What's inside is more important.
What appears to be a crawl tunnel has emerged on the other side of the blue shipping container at the steps leading down from the Towers. I'm guessing this will be for the Sub Species maze.

Would make a lot of sense with the sewer thing. Or maybe a blindfolded crawl for Molly Crowe?
More likely the sewer.
I would rather towers use shipping containers for mazes than pay a fortune for a tent. As these are containers towers already had there wouldn't be any cost for them. Compared to renting a tent off a company and then starting from scratch each year.
I think the point was more that shopping containers limit what you can build/create, since it's a small space to work with. The marquees back over by the hotels a few years back offered more creativity with sets.
Although of course now they have the Towers of which there is plenty of space to play with anyway (The Sanctuary really shown that off with some scenes).
I find while the current set up is easier for Towers, there's still that atmosphere that can't be recreated like the one you would have gotten over by the hotels a few years ago. Queueing for Boiler House/Carnival at 11:30pm in 2010, on an empty field, with just creepy Toyland Tours music and screams being heard in the background... that's an experience like no other, and it's a shame that everything's confined to the theme park these days.
Not to be too much of a moaner though. As long as the mazes are good on the inside that's all I care about these days. External atmosphere is just a nice bonus.
Those midnight queues waiting to walk around a corn field were the best !
I longingly miss the days of the mazes being at the hotels especially Field. Being stood by the corn, late in the evening, just screams being heard from deep in the corn every now and then. Getting out and heading into Margs for a drink - followed by the actors at midnight.
