Scarefest 2018

The vast majority of 10 year olds are taller than 1.4m, so by age 15 the amount of people that wouldn't be 1.4m would be virtually none. In the very very rare case that someone might not be 1.4, they could just skip that portion of the experience.

I don't think they'll use the towers anyway so this discussion might be worthless :p

Please Note: Due to low lighting, the Skyride, Battle Galleons, Get Set Go Tree Top Adventure, Tree Fu Tom Training Camp and the Gardens will close earlier in the day at 3.30pm. Children's rides and attractions in CBeebies Land and Cloud Cuckoo Land will close from 7pm with the exception of Mr. Bloom's Allotment which will close from 6pm.

There is no mentioned of the Rapids closing early due to low lighting, could we be seeing a return of the rapids by night or is this simply an oversight by Alton?

There was a brief mention of Fast track passes on the website for resort hotel guest, but that seem to have disappeared or moved, which implied that you will only be getting fast track to one ride only?

There will be no Early Ride Time during Scarefest.

Instead, guests staying in the Alton Towers Hotel, Splash Landings Hotel or the Enchanted Village will get one fastrack ride on Nemesis, Oblivion, Runaway Mine Train OR Duel.

Or, guests staying in the CBeebies Land Hotel will get fastrack on 3 rides which can be used at any time during the day. The choice is from the following; 1 ride on either Justin's House or In the Night Garden, 1 ride on either Postman Pat or Go Jetters and 1 ride on Numtums.

Is 3:30pm a typo, because I must admit that that seems a little early. If it isn't a typo, though, then I'm sure Alton have a tangible reason for closing those attractions at 3:30pm. Maybe the HSE imposed it upon them?
 
Rides will stay open much later at the start of the event - there's no need to close at 3.30 if it's going to still be light more than 2hrs later.

3:30pm is the earliest possible close once the hour goes back at the end of October.
 
They needed to reign that in a little as fastrack queues in the morning have been crazy in recent years. Only problem now is that RMT will be swamped with all the families staying over - if you're under 1.4m it's that or Duel.
 
Typically, the rides which close for low light tend to go around 6.00pm early October and 4.30pm by the end of the event.

I hope the CBeebies closure at 7.00pm is flexible; especially if there are some very busy days. They may wish to keep CBeebies Land open slightly (although not much) longer.

Only question is was the hotel fastrack freebies included in the fastrack sales allocations that were available?

Meaning there could now be more fastrack available to buy on the day. And the big bang ticket holders get the 3 shot package included.

But completely the right direction especially when Rita had its fastrack entrance locked several times due to it snaking out into the area.

ERT replacement fast tracks were usually valid for the first hour or two of ride opening. There has never been an issue with queue-lines in the mornings before lunch, it the bad ride operations that has made queue lines unbearable this season,
 
There is an issue this season with the fact that rides like Rita get less throughput (significantly) than Nemesis and Oblivion - yet the fastrack allocation seems to be the same.

Smiler doesn't cope with Fastrack well either. Wicker Man is fine because they haven't included it this year. I worry for next year.
 
Out of interest, does anyone know what sort of Fastrack allocation the major rides have? I'd personally guess about 10-20% of the hourly throughput, but I'm not too sure.
 
can we just talk about how alton towers hasn't had a scareroom since the ultimate sleepover. I understand that past experiences may not have been as popular but its fair to say scarefest has become alton towers most popular event. i reckon there could be a lot more appeal for a scareroom now than there ever has been especially since there are very few scarerooms

exactly im the same. ive always wanted to do a scareroom and there is definetly an audience for scarerooms. check out andrew georgiades he done a few videos of previous scarerooms.
