Scarefest 2022

The reason Jack and Kieran are involved is because they have a professional business which they provide an excellent service. Jack happens to be a relatively big social media name, which Im sure is the lever that got them on the parks' radar, but out of that Thorpe are lucky to have found a great media partner.

It would be pretty poor if parks just started using influencers to handle their promo and media in general, based on fame.

Does 28,000 YouTube subscribers class as big? Anyway the fact they have a business makes more sense than their social media presence. We are probably pushing the boundaries of “on topic” however now.

Do you guys reckon I'll have much need for a (complimentary) Gold Fasttrack package on either of the first 2 Friday's of Scarefest (the 7th &14th)? Not sure how many times I've been on a Friday before as the past days all seem to blur into one so I'm unsure if it will be busy enough to make the queue-jumping worthwhile. I have to let A.T know about 2 weeks in advance at least ahead of when I want to use them so I was just wondering if anyone can remember how busy those 2 Fridays usually are. The complimentary package was due to a complaint earlier in the year so thought I'd save it for Scarefest as I like to ride in the dark but usually can't be bothered to queue

I'm visiting on Friday 14th (the second friday of the event) we've never been on a Friday before, we also tend to go on the first or second Saturday, so my question is: traditionally, (and i know we can't speak for this year as it's not happened yet) is the second Friday usually quieter than either of those Saturdays?

We have done the first Saturday the last 2 years and it's been busy we have fastrack that day partly due to how far we travel too

Feels increasingly likely Freak Show will be the maze to be culled, which if that’s the case I’ll be very happy about. I don’t mind AMT returning again in that case.

Definitely agree. Toxic seemed good in 2020 yet not so much last year in my view.

Altonville back again? *yawn*

That maze is well past its use by date. I'm very unlikely to be bothering with any of the mazes this year.

Personally, I'm very excited by this announcement as I was worried I wouldn't get to experience such a highly rated maze. However, I do think this isn't the smartest move on Alton's part. 7 years of the same maze is sure to drive away long-time scarefest fans. As happy as I am, the lineup needs a hard reset.

Would actually quite like them to bring back Carnival of Screams as it’s an anniversary year. Was always one of my favourite mazes when done well.

Mine tours is a good maze but it’s had its day.

I really enjoyed carnival. The room with the coloured spots everywhere and the guy hiding on the wall was just awesome

People who visit every year aren't really the target audience for this kind of thing.

The likes of Twinlakes, Screamfest Burton and Tulleys bring back the same mazes year on year on year but they are of extremely high quality.

It's better to invest in having brilliant mazes than worry about shaking up the line up every year. Particularly if you're on a budget. That's how you end up with duds like Molly Crowe, Toxic Junkyard and the entirety of Fright Nights 2018.

Tired of doing the same mazes? Try a different scare event.

Parkwide entertainment / theming / roaming actors for Scarefest however is a whole different conversation. It's rubbish. It needs to start existing before Towers can even get back into the same league as the big boys.

I don't see non-family-friendly roaming stuff coming to Alton Towers at all. They should offer more family focused roaming stuff and maybe an "adult" free scare experience rather than just the paid-for mazes, but there needs to be options for people to avoid the scary stuff if that is the case.
Also there is the issue if scare zones are in remote locations that staff can get assaulted when they jump out, Haunted Hollow live had problems.

If you look on the website, it says at the end of the descriptions (Recommended for those 15+). To me, this could possibly mean that some mazes will have different age ratings. After all, wouldn't it be redundant to put those brackets there if all the mazes have the same age rating?

Will they rate Darkest Depths slightly lower? Or, the more exciting option, the new maze is even more extreme and aimed for an older audience.

The Attic has just been confirmed on their socials as the second returning maze. I assume Darkest Depths will soon be confirmed as the third.
And I reckon that N:ST's building will be used for the "new" maze, although I would prefer N:ST's building to be used for a permanent attraction for when Nemmy is down. Without Nemmy there will just be 3 rides in FV, two of which are low-throughput fillers.
