Scarefest 2022

Just to reiterate what others have said about The Invitation, the actors are fab. Brilliant characters which are equally funny and creepy.

And lift scene too works well. But it's like the run up to the audio section and the audio section itself are two completely different themes. From what I got reading between the lines is you're invited to this cemetery / morgue to presumably see a families grave underground (or something) but as soon as you put the audio on it starts rambling on about a vampire which is nothing to do with anything else you've just been encountering since you joined the queue. If the audio scene was to do with being buried alive or something it would have worked and the whole attractive would have flowed. (you could have had the sound of the mortician cutting into you and soil being thrown onto you as if you were being buried or something.) But instead you have 10 mins of a vampire talking to himself and then no ending what do ever.

Apologies if there's any spoilers in that but to be honest there isn't really anything to spoil... (because nothing happens.)

So here's LadBaby trying the Invitation...

From: https://youtu.be/w_nXwjFJX1E

I'm surprised Alton Towers let them show off so much of the experience (not that there is much to it). Folks who have tried it, is there much that they didn't include and was their experience roughly the same to yours?

What's so specially about them that Towers lets them experience it and film it but not have a press event for other vloggers & journalists? (yes I know the reason why, it's more of a rhetorical question!)

Well aside from the terrible acting (Who knew ladbaby lives at Uttox Services!)

The invitation looks a bit pants, from what I've seen from various sources this year's event seems a big backwards step with the obvious exception of the entertainment on the main stage

I've had the displeasure of meeting this pair when working on the park. Never met a pair of more arrogant, self-absorbed people in my life. Even David Walliams was more pleasant. Why Towers gives them the time of day I have no idea.

That was very painful to watch. The acting from that pair, atrocious. Can’t say it sells the experience to me at all, if anything that video confirms I would not bother at all with The Invitation.

I don’t really ‘get’ this attraction. What’s the story? You’re being buried alive, so why are you sat and not lying down?

Scarefest really needs huge investment next year to sort the maze situation out. I can’t see how they can drag the three mazes through to another year, and I can’t see The Invitation returning. Entertainment on the stage looks good, but then two steps back again with lighting. Wicker Man with no lighting package?! The last time lighting was excellent was 12 years ago, that should be a standard we are at now in the event’s 15th year. Sort it out, Towers!

This is the thing, it's got nothing to do with being buried alive,
you've literally been invited to a vault so a vampire can lick your fingers. (unfortunately that's not even a joke 😂)

Going from the park’s Instagram stories, they seem to have invited every single “influencer” in the country to Scarefest.

I often wonder what the park actually gets back from throwing free tickets and stays at these people and how they can quantify the return on investment.

I for one have never watched an influencer’s Instagram and thought, “Oh I must book AT tickets after seeing this” but perhaps I’m not the target audience.

All they seem to do is arrogantly walk around the park in their own self obsessed bubble and swan into the fast track lanes.

Interesting how they appear to be going down the Instagram influencer route rather than inviting Youtube vloggers - at least I don't think they have? TPWW and Lift Hills & Thrills have done Scarefest off their own backs and I'm sure there are others who have yet to release their vlogs.

Since the drama around TikTok as a platofrom, Instagram reels have been growing and now have far higher engagement than many other platforms. That and the fact that people who watch theme park blogs are already very likely to be visiting the event so don’t need to be advertised to

Just to note, now that Scarefest has started I have moved this thread from Future and in to General Discussion.

if as you say the vloggers are going to come and make a video anyway whats the point in inviting them? The park wants to appeal to new groups of people. Those who watch TPWW will probably be planning to come anyway. But fans of LadBaby and similar are more likely to be the sort of people who only go to AT every few years.

£32 is too steep for me based on the mixed reviews of the scare mazes this year. Therefore Ive decided to just do 2. Invitation is out the picture as that doesn't look good but I'm torn which to pick out of the other 3. So which 2/3 mazes should I pick? I've never done the mazes before so which 2 would you say are the best experience for a first timer?

If that's the case, why did Thorpe invite all the vloggers to their press event and not just Instagrammers and Tik Tockers? I always see Thorpe as more intune with teenagers, young adults and young couples than Towers (certainly when it comes to Scarefest), so it would make sense they went down this route too surely?

I've always found it odd that Thorpe have a press night and Towers doesn't for Scarefest, and that they allow filming inside the mazes on these nights - often with big white spotlights on the vloggers so completely ruining any atmosphere the maze may have, and of course ruining any surprises in them.

If you have a MAP you do discount and can get them for about £26 I think

Yes we got all 4 for 26. Don't bother with the invitation. The audio element is excellent yet i walked out laughing how bad it was. Out of the other 3 mazes based on our run through of Friday evening The attic, mines and darkest depths.
