Scarefest 2025

Interestingly, the two family mazes open at 1:30 this year

Do you mean 10:30?

That is a welcome change, though it seems to have come at the cost of the other family attractions. It doesn't look like anything is happening in the Courtyard Arena until 4:30pm, and shows only run until 7:30pm, which seems a bit late... and short.

So they’re running the upcharge attractions more and the park wide entertainment less.

Brilliant. Not like you pay a fortune to get in or anything.

Surprised that the Edge of the Forest entrance is where the Darkest Depths entrance was, because weren't they building some permanent-looking theming Dark Forest side of the building? That could be the exit as such, but it's weird that they'd put budget into theming an attractions exit, unless they want a showpiece runout that people can see from the Rita midway, a bit like there was with Sub Species.

The permanent ramp is the exit of the maze;

Assume the hut is the photo kiosk.

I will say already this years scarefest is better than previous ones seen actors in Forbidden Valley and Mutiny Bay so far and more theming across the park

Not seen any roaming actors today.

They had to cancel the CBeebies Monster Ball show due to technical issues which was amusing given it's once a day.
I have Alton Ancestors been out saw some Pirates out in Mutiny Bay and Alton Bear to

Did Edge Of The Forest today and found myself in with a group that included a very well known theme park YouTuber and a not so well known one. Pretty good to be honest and some excellent theming. Tyson Fury was also there with two of his children.

All the new theming I can see across the park appears to be of a high quality, not just thrown up.
Better than any of the other UK parks in terms of bespoke custom decor. They clearly gave this a lot of thought when designing the characters and placements. The marketing team clearly had an influence to drive sales, which I don’t mind this because it’s adding high-quality feeding and more of an atmosphere around the park.

They should really change the two kids “spook” attractions next year and keep it consistent and in line with these characters and theming.

Small things like the cauldron which they made into a fountain on towers street, which many won’t even notice. Tells me they’re putting a lot more care and creativity into this now. Maybe a bigger budget has helped with the backs and great to see it utilised well.

How many generators are left now considering they’ve been implementing a lot more permanent lighting?

The only negative is the facial of Edge of the forest and excessive ramps/scalfold again looks like sub terror. It’s not like they not had enough time but this should be covered better to give the illusion.

Popped to Alton Towers today to experience a bit of Scarefest. Left about 4pm so definitely didn’t have the full spooky experience but was a good day.

I think the weather really helped- Alton Towers does look glorious in the autumnal sunshine with the beautiful trees. Even the gardens looked fantastic - they seemed to keep changing the beds with some nice annuals.

Ops weren’t bad- first thing this morning they were randomly just filling the front row of Blivvy- unsure if this continued throughout the day! Was surprisingly quite busy for a traditionally very off peak day. Lots of overestimated queue times which is always a nice surprise!

The new themeing does look wonderful in person. It’s fun also spotting some of the reused props from bygone years- if those pics of the 4D theatre are anything to go by they’ve got hundreds of old props so may as well use them!

Ancestors were great- as always. It’s been lovely to experience this act from its infancy to being an integral part of Scarefest. The audience interaction this year was very cute and they were masterful at how they cleared the performance space to continue with the next section of the routine- as I performer I really was impressed by this!!

I only did Compound today as it was my favourite from last year - plan to do the rest of the mazes and zones later on.
I enjoyed compound - did a different route to what I got last year- saw pools and crawled. Actors seemed a little less willing to improvise but that will come with time as the run continues. Was a little disappointed that it seems unchanged since last year. Thought the attraction had real scope to be adapted and added to. I may have missed it, but a little disappointed with the lack of Toxicator references- surely that would’ve been a great tie in for this year!

Pretty sure one of the rooms I went through last year was a teaser for Toxicator, unless I'm misremembering.

It had a bridge with toxic barrels either side, and I met an actor who got right in my face and spoke to me. Don't think I took in what he said, but the more I think about it the more I'm sure it may have been something to do with Project Ocean (as it was known then).

One station ops on Blivvy and Galactair weren't particularly fun.

Adding a few extra bits around the park is the start of solving the issue of it never feeling like Scarefest if not in Towers Street.

They need to do something with the support ride issue sooner rather than later. Just a Bluey coaster won't help.

How must people feel queueing 30 minutes for Gangster Granny?
