SeaWorld Orlando: General Discussion

Busch Gardens / sea world must be worried about this pandemic. They are rich but they don't have the pockets universal and Disney do. They have invested so much for the last few years and for 2020 in particular. Their finances must be getting a bit hairy now I bet.

Some more info on Seaworlds situation here. They appear to have enough cash to keep them going for while.

Ooh, won’t that be exciting whenever it comes! Thunderbird gets very good reviews, so I was always mystified as to why B&M had sold no more launched roller coasters besides a Hulk-style coaster with the same tire launch technology as the original. But it would seem like our wait for another launched B&M may soon be over!

By “proper launch coaster”, do you mean B&M’s take on something like an Intamin Blitz or Mack Launch Coaster, or do you just mean “a model orientated around launch technology”? I appreciate that not much is known besides what that lien says, but I was merely wondering what you meant by “proper launch coaster”.

I only meant a model of launch coaster that could be consistently produced by B&M, as we haven't really seen that so far from them. Whether there will be any other special features or not, I have no idea!

The person who wrote the article seems to imply that it's still a Surf Coaster (whatever that means) and the launch is somehow part of the design.

But that's probably just speculation.

SeaWorld held their 3rd quarter call, as expected the only new 2021 additions to their parks will be the delayed 2020 rides (Iron Gwazi, Ice Breaker, Pantheon & Emperor plus waterpark additions) but surprisingly they anticipate business as normal in terms of new investments in 2022, with no slowdown from the levels of money spent on the intended 2020 lineup.

As a reminder, we know that in the next couple of years BGW will be receiving an Intamin Giga Shuttle Launch Coaster, BGT will be opening an S&S Screamin Swing, SWO will be opening a new launch coaster model from B&M, SWSD will be opening a new (intamin?) family launch coaster and SWSA will be opening an S&S Screamin Swing and a Mack Rides Powersplash. Likely all open by 2022.

A virtual POV has been released of next year's coaster, Ice Breaker.

4 passes on that launch section. Meet my... poor throughputs.

Reading this as a higher level family thrill coaster, I think it nicely fills a gap in SWO's coaster line up. The air time hops from the launches could have some good potential.

It’s nothing to shout about for sure but for me it delivers what it’s supposed to be, a decent solid family ride.

I agree it definitely fills a gap in the park lineup and could have some good airtime.
Completely agree. When we were there Feb 2019 my eldest and I were smashing through the big three rollercoasters, whilst my youngest didn't have much to do other than piss my money on those stupid tent games. It will make a massive difference having this in the line up and I would hope that the next addition is aimed at 1.32m to bridge that gap as well.

Looks a perfect fit for SeaWorld but I lost all interest when they announced the 'comfort' collars.

Edit: will be interesting to see how they pull off the Arctic theming considering the Florida climate.
