Skyride General Discussion

I thought the same. This shot in particular looks as if the number of gondolas was back up to where it would have been before capacity issues started plaguing the attraction.

That looks good. Often before it closed, it would be quicker to walk to an area rather than use the Skyride to get there due to long queues caused by low throughput, so it would certainly be beneficial to both people who enjoy the Skyride for the views, and those with mobility issues as they could reach areas of the park faster than if there were fewer gondolas.

Does anyone know the maximum time it’s takes to get from A-B on these gondolas?

Surly less gondolas would be beneficial for capacity and to soak up the crowds. Oh dear what has it come to when these are my promoted ideas?

Guessing it all depends on what the staggering openings and ride breakdowns are like this season?

"Surely less gondolas would be beneficial for capacity..."
Completely the opposite, in my humble opinion.

I want to say its about 10 minutes end-to-end assuming there are no stops to load on wheelchairs etc. For some reason these stops are always when I've been over the highest part of the valley and never when I'm only like 10 feet off the ground.

With Hex back full time and Skyride to follow both almost as brand new, will Towers finally be able to start spending more £££s on new attractions rather than saving old ones from near certain death - or will something else topple over first?!

As above, I believe Monorail will be next.

That’s the last attraction that I beleive seriously needs massive investment to bring it back up to standards.

Everything else would be cosmetic.

I also think this could be why Horizon was delayed.

Galactica has become an unreliable mess and needs money spending on the ride system.

Skyride shouldn't delay Horizon. Horizon is CAPEX whereas this should be under OPEX?
Nah, any significant refurbishment like this would be Capex. Opex is literally your day to day operating costs, or plannable annual maintenance etc - basically anything you stick into your ‘normal’ running budget

Oblivion station needs rebuilding aswell whilst they're at it, which won't come cheap.

Still lots to do before Horizon.

Yes, it may need it from a cosmetic point of view but it’s structurally sound and isn’t affecting the operation of the ride.

Quite unlike Hex and Skyride. Nemmie was operational but it was clear it wouldn’t have lasted much longer so they decided to invest before it became a problem.

I’d say Monorail is in a similar situation to where Nemmie was before the refurb. It can continue operating should they choose, but they know it’ll need a major overhaul and that would require significant downtime.

This could happen with Oblivions station, but that’s far more likely to be an off season thing that won’t force the ride to close for an extended period of time.

@AltonLover123 i am less to believe Oblivions station isn’t as sound as you’d believe

@Poisson fine line here from an accounting angle. Given the size of the jobs it would likely be capex, but to capex something it has to be more than just refurbing or adding to what was already there.

Please remember this is the Skyride general discussion topic. If you’d like to discuss improvements to other attractions or areas around the resort, there’s other dedicated topics where this would be far more appropriate. Thanks :)
