Skyride General Discussion

Seems like AT have had a change in comms strategy in trying to get the information out themselves first - what with the junior coaster and now this. I’m all for it, and all for seeing the Skyride back too!
Wonder if we will get any news on Horizon

I feel like it shows the state of the park that a core transport offering being fixed is being celebrated by them
I do understand where your point is, but they’ve spent millions..
We often criticise them when they don’t (hence the reason why the sky ride was out of action for so long in the first place) so I think it doesn’t need to be so negative.
The skyride should never have been left to the state it was, but that’s in the past. What matters is they’ve spent the money to fix it rather than condemn it. Which they easily could have.

Give it time.If the ‘old’ Alton/Merlin management were still in place, this would still be SBNO or demolished by now.

What do we think opening time wise? I expect it won’t open with park, more likely 11am like it used to in recent years, maybe even 12pm on quieter days.
Wouldn’t that somewhat defeat the point of it doubling as a transport system for the non-ambulant and so on?

Does the Forbidden Valley station have two queues so you can travel in either direction?

It certainly used to. They'll probably add a few more.Does the Forbidden Valley station have two queues so you can travel in either direction?
And turn the cross-valley leg in to an upcharge attraction.

In the last season before it closed they cut the operating hours, IIRC there was a time when it didn't open until 12, then of course towards the end of the season it'd be shut by 4 as it doesn't run in the dark.
FV station technically has 3 entrances as there is a wheelchair entrance for travel towards DF only. Towers Street skyride is probably the last remaining ride in the park where if you want to ride then you must join the (singular) queue.

I predict this will not be well received in 2025.
I think they should really consider it being mandatory to disembark after each “leg” of the journey. The queues at FV were often dreadful and it would help spread people around the park
That again defeats the point of it as a transport system.

TS has no space for additional entrances, if they tried to split the current entrance in two you wouldn't be able to get a wheelchair though, which would very much undermine the point. Similarly there is no room for additional entrances towards TS from FV.
The ride rarely has long queues for that leg of the journey - most people use it to travel between DF and FV, so the lack of a dedicated entrance hardly matters.

Other option is only loading every other car at TS, leaving every other car free for guests to board at FV.I think they should really consider it being mandatory to disembark after each “leg” of the journey. The queues at FV were often dreadful and it would help spread people around the park

A lot of people travelling from TS get off in FV anyway but they could consider doing that towards the end of the day from DF as no-one is getting off at FV, unless they start actively encouraging guests to leave via the Galactica gates.

I’m actually turning - a long way to go operationally but capex we can’t complain. We have to accept change will. It happen overnight.
I’m fairly confident a monorail refurb will come.
Well this is a pleasant surprise.
I’ll criticise Merlin where it’s due but it always seemed a bit of an overreaction last term to the reopening being delayed, I’m as cynical as anyone but they weren’t going to spend the money that they spent trying to get it sorted and not reopen it, was always likely to be reopening for this season.

I refuse to use it for that DF/FV leg, still scares the absolute crap out of me when it stalls over that valley, id rather walk! I’ll use it for the TS/DF leg though.
Ridiculous when I’ll go on 200+ high coasters with a lap bar to keep me in but the sky ride over the valley has always terrified me.

correct me if I am wrong but the DF (not sure about Towers street, but I think I recall one) stations have an run around (presumably to remove gondolas for some reason onto) Disney's skyway system also has this run around, but they use it as a method of allowing disabled guest to board without having to stop the sky way, it wouldn't do much for forbidden valley but could prevent having to stop the ride.TS has no space for additional entrances, if they tried to split the current entrance in two you wouldn't be able to get a wheelchair though, which would very much undermine the point. Things like this is fine.
But they should always aim to keep the mystery as much as possible dependent on the attraction, project horizon, thirteen, TCAAM etc
Being able to take people on a journey is great
