Strange Roller Coasters

OK. This is the best I've seen yet.

The Cyclone, opened at Crystal Beach in 1927 and part of a set of infamous "triplets", and built by Harry G. Traver. I've read different accounts, but there seems to be a consensus that there was always an on site nurse, and that the rides closed due to people finding them too scary and not riding them.

The first vid (with a rather odd accompanying soundtrack) focuses on the track, where as the second video is just beautiful, and captures the sounds, images and what I believe to be the earliest POV I've seen on any forum to date - Maybe you have already seen it, anyway this one is another of the triplets, filmed in 1932, and from the Palisades Amusement Park

Anyway, mainly the coaster - well worth a watch for pics of some of the rather scary twists and turns, plus video footage:

And one of my favourite videos, I've ever seen actually. Nostalgia or what? - It was rides like this, pushing the boundaries back then in the 20s, the gave rise to whom we are now. To those incredible creators I must say thanks! Anyway... the video, enjoy folks, I did ;D

And listen to the NOISE of the coaster! And the SPEED!

I've yet to see a single track in this thread that I wouldn't ride.
That sounds like a challenge.

So basically we are looking for two rides that will kill you so you can only chose one to ride?

How about the Euthanasia Coaster as one and that early looping coaster that occasionally snapped rider’s necks as the other? I think it had trains like those German Butterfly rides if you want us to order one and modify it for you :p

Also I believe the ride TheMan just posted has a few fatality's to it's name. At the very least it caused a lot of people to require medial need.

Does that Palisades coaster have a steel support structure? Certainly looks like it! The Voyage's great grandfather. :)

Yup, believe there was a nurse on standby for every ride, urban myth, or truth? Just from observing it, I reckon it's a safe bet! I had to find one that even Diogo would twice about ;D

Could I stand next to that, and not ride it though? As crazy as it looks? I'd have to say, I reckon I'd have a go! How many of us could not ride that?

I've no idea dude, I can't tell!

Since the Vekoma stingray was mentioned in here a bit ago I thought I'd share with your this.

Topic here.

As you can see somebody is doing a CT of it. :)

Is the Stingray that weird though? I think it's petty cool.

And I'm with Diogo, I'll do anything in this topic. Those people who died on the Cyclone are pussies. ;)

Honestly didn't realise these things existed outside RCT...

And a video to show everyone how amazing these things look:

RCDB.

:D

Oh my the're real are they, when i saw it in RCT3 I thought the programmers had gone wild!

Thats got to be the only one in the world right ???

Yep, the only one made. It was made by a company called Caripro and the model is the 'Gyroflyer'. They don't exist anymore though, so I do hope that this ride is kept going for as long as possible.

They're also responsible for the 'Batflyer' which is also in RCT. Here are some models from around the world:

But isn't it just an over complicated version of Oblivion? Plus you get a decent coaster layout after the drop as well.

I can only assume some crazy Dutch dude (possible after visiting a cafe en route to work), suddenly came out with these immortal words..

Hey, guysch (my best Dutch accent), I've got a fantastic idea....

And thus, Gravity Max was born ;D

It is, a crazy idea, and as pointless as it quite possibly is in many ways, it is equally as insanely brilliant. I mean JB, have you been on it? Can you give an objective view? Has anyone else ridden it? Genuinely interested.

This may have been posted on a different site at the start of the year as it seem familiar, but I'll post it again here anyway:

NASA-Inspired Zero-Gravity Roller Coaster

VomitComet1.jpg

Have you ever wanted to know what floating through space feels like? This new roller coaster, proposed by BRC Imagination Arts, may be your chance to experience eight seconds of microgravity. The zero-gravity ride is designed to mimic NASA’s KC-135A aircraft, which is used to train astronauts for space! That aircraft has been dubbed the “Vomit Comet." To be on the safe side, “the cars would also be outfitted with drains. Should the ride live up to its nauseous namesake, attendants at the unloading stations would be ready with hoses.”

Within the enclosed ride, the passengers will strap into seats, leaving enough slack to allow for the floating sensation. To achieve the feeling of microgravity, it will rely on a precise acceleration and deceleration system. First, the ride quickly accelerates to speeds over 100 miles per hour directly upwards. Then, it slows its upward speeds to match the trajectory of the passengers. After that, the ride moves downward to match the falling speeds of the passengers.

Though the average roller coaster costs about $30 million, Bob Rogers, BRC’s founder and chief creative officer, says "the zero-gravity ride would cost $50 million or more, in large part because the precision-response propulsion system is so complex.” He proposes that after amusement park hours, the ride could also be rented out to scientists who want to perform tests similar to the original Vomit Comet.

I love how they've nicked the Stealth entrance and made it all futuristic, haha! :p

to answer your question, nope nope and nope - but it is still pointless!

^ Once he's finished killing everyone, he may as well kill himself. I think it's quite appropriate and I wouldn't put it past him! :p
