personally I think number 1 is needed the most - although I love coasters

TWoDW should bring a new kids dark ride, but yes they could do with a new family one.
 
Social Media hype has somewhat helped make these areas busier.

If you didnt read a paper or watch the local news before you would never know a new ride was being built

It really did and it worked to keep hype for the coaster the following years:

Nemesis: followed by Blade relocating/retheme then Ripsaw
Oblivion: met with rethemed Black Hole boosted by Enterprise and Energiser then Submission
Rita: Retheme of WaveSwinger, Bouncing thing and eventually Corkscrew
Even Spinball got a couple of play rides and Mini Beastie thing rethemed.

Worked well. Now its just slap a coaster and nothing else. If you've ever seen Dark Forest, X-Sector or Forbidden Valley when both coasters go down the areas are horrible, cannot cope and theres no way the areas cope. The need for flat rides is desperate and its sincerely sad that Towers have let it get to this point.
 
I have been I Darl a Forest with both coasters down. Not a nice experience. It’s bad enough at the best of times!

I fail to understand the logic in not maintaining the flats / removing what they have. It is possible to advertise them after all. See submission / ripsaw adverts back in the day.

a well themed flat would surely boost guests satisfaction in the park. Not sure it would boost attendance though? And ultimately that the key isn’t it.
 
Has there been much discussion as to where SW9 would 'fit'?
Realistically the only two areas I can see (that are available) are the bottom end of X Sector (Remove Enterprise etc) Maybe a dark ride, similar to Derren Brown ride would fit there?

The only area I can see big enough for a coaster is the Duel site? The ride if always empty and falling to bits, so this could be demolished to create a new area in the park, for maybe a couple of rides?
 
Yeah flats and world class dark rides are what’s needed. Something like Maus au Chocolat / Toy Story Mania or similar proper dark ride. Plus a submission and ripsaw replacement
 
There's space in Forbidden Valley like bluesonichd says, the old Coaster Corner area behind CCL, the Air car park, the old coach park behind Katanga Canyon and the valley are all potential locations for future developments.

If you consider ride removals then that opens up more locations. Removing Rita for example would open up a big space in Dark Forest for a new ride(s), and there's probably other locations I haven't thought of.

The space for Sw8 was just a station and the rest of coaster went into valley, which they wouldnt be likely to do anymore (Would not build another wooden coaster so soon after Wicker Man and other side of ride is where '13' is now placed)
The area beyond Galactica seems like an odd choice as its a car park next to a hotel, they are already short on car park spaces.
They wouldnt build on the coach park behind the aquarium as its too near residential property and still used as a coach park.
Coaster corner was scrapped in the 90's due to proximity to property / too much noise, so again unlikely.
Doesn't leave a lot of options...

Then maybe they could either remove Spinball or Rita and build there?? ;)
 
I think SW9 will be in Katanga Canyon because I don't think Congo River Rapids will last much longer given the Splash Canyon incident.

Apparently they filed some sort of survey-type thing that indicated a wooden/hybrid coaster of some sort in Forbidden Valley in April 2015. It didn't go into much explicit detail, but it did indicate a wooden structure and it being located in Forbidden Valley. For all we know, it could have just been a Wicker Man-style GCI in a different location, but rumours heavily pointed to some sort of RMC.

coaster corner would be possible for an indoor coaster as that lessons the noise impact. Also it’s something else they don’t really have in the park.
 
The screening survey gave quite a bit of detail away so it was clear at the time SW8 was planned for Forbidden Valley.

It's been said a few times however it would be nice to see the next big investment be something a little different, a large water ride or large dark ride (Duel replacement) would be at the top of my list.
