I think a flat will be something they could easily add as a “new for season” when there’s no SW or any other development
They could very easily yes, but they won’t

For a medium investment year all we need is an intamin mega gyro in a partial pit it's not hard to do, has great capacity and is a very fun ride.
Didn't Oblivion's pit end up costing half of the £12m budget? And didn't groundwork make up something like £4m of Nemesis' budget? Intamin Gyroswings are fairly tall rides; I think digging a pit for one would cost almost as much as the ride itself!I think you underestimate the difficulty of constructing a (reasonably large) pit...
Wouldn’t the budget for running a dark ride / water ride be more than a coaster ??
OK the dark ride bit is good and the splash down is funThat's got to be the first time I've ever heard the coaster part of DVH described as "excellent"!
DVH does a great job of being a dark ride - the fog room in particular is really quite isolating and very eerie. But then it remembers it's supposed to be a coaster and does an awful job of it.
They can barely carry out enough routine maintenance let alone routine excavation work....I think it's time for AT to begin some routine excavation work...
