The Brexit Thread

Perhaps MPs are against Brexit because they believe it would be bad for our economy and could even put lives at risk. Sure, a slim majority voted for Brexit, but I reckon most of them expected some sort of deal to be made (ie a soft Brexit), and that the there would be no backstop at the Irish border. Since it appears a deal is not possible, and we'll need some sort of hard border to Ireland, logical outcome is... Remain
 
Weekly Brexit debate in the office today. Was all very pleasant and good natured, despite the farce in parliament.

It's weird how we're still debating it three years down the track, the same things over and over, like a coaster forum, I guess.
 
Today I discovered a website which is regularly updated with diagrams showing various outcomes along with their estimated probabilities: Brexit - What next?

To quote the site:

Letwin amendment will pass. Vote on deal to be scrapped today. PM will need to send letter to extend but not sure if that will get vetoed by a EU state. If that does happen I would guess that SNP LAB LD will pass a bill to cancel articles 50
 
It's impossible to call. I still don't think there is a majority for anything so it's almost a case of who will blink first.

The Johnson deal is not good, and if it does pass then it will entirely be the result of Brexit fatigue
 
I don't buy into this whole "cancel Brexit and there will be riots" malarkey as a reason Brexit must be done. What makes you think there won't be a riot if Brexit does go ahead? Either way about half the country is gonna be unhappy, and coupled with years of Tory austerity it's a tinderbox waiting.
 
The result of the vote was that we would leave the EU. I reckon people who voted for that would be more angry if that vote was ignored than remainers would be upset that the result of a democratic vote was actually carried out. A lot of remainers seem to have forgotten that they lost the vote though, which is a shame.
