The Funfair News & Discussion Thread

So in a cruel twist of fate I can only go to either Kirkcaldy Links Market funfair or the Newcastle Hoppings fair. Any opinions on which one is better in terms of thrill/unique rides?

I'm far from a fairs expert, but based on reputation alone (IE: "have I heard of it?"), I'd say Hoppings. I think it's the third biggest after Goose and Hull...?

With Links Market just about to open up next week on my stamping ground, I honestly nearly fell for this April Fools post about a certain coaster coming to my town...

God I hate the bastards who for a brief moment made me hyperventilate with joy.

Anyway, the offering at KLM is mostly the same as last year with no real new additions to speak of...honestly Olympia Looping would have been the best thing to come to Scotland in over two decades honestly which shows the abysmal offerings up here.

I’d say the UK fair circuit has been pretty abysmal since the late 2010s. A lot of the unique, standout rides have been sold off to European fairs, and most of the new additions here are just clones of rides already doing the rounds on the UK circuit.

Fairs like Hull or Nottingham are still impressive in size, but the variety just isn’t there anymore. You’ll often see two to five of the same type of ride, which takes away from the excitement and uniqueness these events used to have.

One day, I’d love to experience a German fair they know how to do it!
