The London 2012 Olympics - The Events

I'm sure I remember Federer saying thAt Murray crying was a good thing, he certainly didn't see it as him being a sore loser.

And you've admitted you fancy him so why not retire from the whole thing.

This is so irrelevant it's unreal. I support him because he's British, and because I think that it's perfectly natural for someone to tear up after losing his first Wimbledon grand final, the absolute high point of his life so far.

I hope you don't have a son if you'd raise him with such outdated 1950s 'men shouldn't show emotions' values (you deny it, but that's clearly what this is). Anyway, this isn't relevant as you don't even believe what you're saying - you just loathe Murray for whatever reason and want to take silly and sad little potshots at him.

Your arguments are flawed and contradictory. You dismiss my entire argument as being biased because I 'hate' Murray, yet claim that you having the opposite feelings towards him has no effect on your own argument.

I dislike him because of the type of sportsman he his, and this reinforces that because it's one of his many negative qualities. My argument is a reason for me not liking him, not the other way around.

Also, along with Mr Brightside, stop trying to put words into my mouth about the whole hypothetical son thing. I've been quite clear that I'd rather teach different values and to express different, more positive EMOTIONS in such circumstances. Crying with joy at triumphs (and not losses) is one of the most overwhelming feelings humans can experience which they remember for the rest of their lives.

I'm conscious of the fact that this has veered off topic and that it has developed into semi-personal swipes, but as they say it takes two (or at least three in this case) to tango and I don't mind defending myself from people trying to twist my words into dramatic fiction.

I was a bit torn in the match as I'm a big fan of Djokovic, but I'm really glad Murray came through and look forward to a Great British Gold tomorrow.

It's sad it won't count as a Major for Murray if he wins, as it's only best of three sets. :(

I'm sure there may be cries of "WHO COULDN'T YOU DO THAT THREE WEEKS AGO?!" if he wins though! :)

Stop talking about Tennis, watch the rowing, now!

2 Gold's up :D

It's a five set final so we can count it ;)

Fantastic from the rowers again today. Team GB are the Kings and Queens d sit down sports...

The interview with Purchase and Hunter was absolutely heartbreaking. One of the most moving things I've seen on television for years.

I still felt really sorry for our boys! Even John Inverdale was upset...

Edit by James: Removal of remark at other members.

I was moved when Katherine Copeland and Sophie Hosking and received their medals and broke down with joy as the union flag was raised. They will remember that moment vividly for the rest of their lives.

Murray and Robson through to the semi's of the mixed doubles as well - which will be played later today! All going well so far tenniswise :)

How on earth is Sharapova doing so badly? She's lost the first set 6-0 to Serena, and she's 4-1 down in the second!

Because she is using all her energy screeching instead of playing tennis? Shut the hell up woman.

Great Britain win the first set 6-1 at the semi-finals of Mixed Doubles against Germany.

Andy Murray playing OK, but Laura Robson playing absolutely sensationally. Dominating play. Go go Laura! :D

So we have at least two tennis medals, that must be a first!

And its looking good for our football team! Mexico and Japan are through to the semis, Brazil loosing so if we win as it stands it will be Mexico, Japan, GB and Honduras, you really do have to fancy us to come out on top there!

Personally I think Team GB is the way forward, do away with the individual nations

No, Great Britain is the way forward, not this stupid marketing exercise that is 'Team GB'.

Still early on, but it's very impressive we're third. Which considering America and China have about 2 billion people between them and therefore aren't ever going to not dominate, is practically first! :p

Well Brazil have scraped through in the football and represent a major threat to us in the next round. However, I am not one of these people that want to see good teams eliminated for our sake. You should expect to be able to beat the best if you want gold.

Team GB is a fantastic name which gets people behind the 'team' - people chant 'GB' at the venues, people are proud to carry flags and merchandise emblazoned with 'Team GB' on it. It makes people feel included with the team. Also I'm fairly sure that the full official name of the team is 'Great Britain & NI' - as that is what it is during other athletic meets.

Not to mention that all that merchandise profit (presumably) goes into the kitty for training our athletes!
I would assume so yes! Though I wouldn't be surprised if a fair whack is helping to pay for the Games - as the Olympic Park Megastore is 50% a Team GB shop...

MO FARRAH HAS WON GOLD AND HIS AMERICAN TRAINING PARTNER 2ND. After this and Ennis, so proud to be British. And amazing day for Team GB yet again, he looked sluggish but paced himself well and it finally paid off!

VIVE LA MO. Mo's M sign will now be a new dance move! :p

*refrains from making Big Bang theory reference*

3 golds in 30 minutes is truly, truly amazing for any nation.
