The "Look What I Made!" Topic.

I've been too manflu-ed up to do any serious building for the last week. Felt a bit better yesterday pottered with some bricks....

Who here remembers 6331 "Patriot Jet" (or "Flying Eagles" to most of the world)?
I've had it since yes, and made a few minor mods over the years, but it was still the same plane. I always felt like it wanted to be an F14. So using only what I had available, it's come out looking like a Soviet knockoff. But you know what? I like that! I think the dustbins for afterburners only add to that vibe.

The tanker behind is a WIP, hastily cobbled together from two cargo planes. You see, I had this halfbaked idea for a flypast hanging from the ceiling.....................

From today (or rather yesterday as of writing this) latest work on the new railway extension in which the tedious check rail was put in place, that is the double rail which is used to help with the tight curve to get round the corner.

This is the last railway update for 2024 for me as 2025 will see more crazy changes with my wee railway expanding even more.

Off the back of my London rail map I've done one for Merseyrail. Actually done two versions, one that's straighter and one that's curvier. Both versions are future-proofed for planned/proposed extensions to the network. Would be interested to know which people prefer/find easier to use.

Was also happy to hear that late last year the first line of the metro in my favourite city in the world finally opened, so was inspired to make a map for the eventual finished network.

I've noticed that all of the uploaded Logos of Euro Mir on the Internet were very pixilated or not High Quality...

So I decided to change that and recreate the logo in Adobe Illustrator.

This was a fun one to do whilst listening to the soundtrack haha!!

I like the dripping goo. Is that melted hot glue?
Yes. I didn’t want to ruin the pot that he sits in, so I wrapped it in cling film and then melted it slightly with a hairdryer, so it almost shrink-wrapped around the pot. Then, I applied the hot glue, and after setting, removed the cling film from the pot and the hot glue. I didn’t work perfectly, but this made the hot glue “goo” form fitting to the pot, so it can just sit on top of it with a little blue tack.

The drops fixed onto him I made by just applying hot glue to a glass baking tray so it pops off (relatively) easy after cooling. Then they are secured to our little creature using UV resin, which I also used to give his eyes more shine; as well as the rest of his body after I accidentally spilled it everywhere. This excess oxidised faster than I could cure it, making him annoying sticky. Then followed a terrifying process of dabbing my finger in rubbing alcohol swiping away the oxidised resin, one wrong move and it could wash away both the shiny varnish and the paint.

I wouldn’t of been able to make something like this without CosClay, which is a more flexible polymer clay. I have an awful case of butterfingers, so as you can imagine more brittle clay did not work fantastically for me. Furthermore, the plasticity of it makes it easier for him to hold the lid of the pot without the slightest bit of pressure shattering it like an urn.

Oops, wrote a bit more than I intended. Wow. I almost sound like I know what I’m doing, and have a sponsor! Although, I can assure you with great confidence I really do not. I didn’t really have a plan for all this, I was just making it up as I went along.
