I once saw "Robin Hood: Prince of Sherwood: The Musical" Somewhere in the West End (I want to say the Piccadilly Theatre?)
It was pretty ****, delving deep in to the "Sheriff is a devil worshiper" **** that came from that film.

Would have been better is they just went with the Brooks version tbh.

When you look at the history of Robin Hood musicals on the West End, it ain't good, anyone know of the infamous failure that was 'Twang!'?

Nope, never heard of it. But I assume that's meant to be a reference to the onomatopoeia of loosing an arrow?

Booked to see Operation Mincemeat when it tours next year, heading The Lowry in Salford so a new venue as well.

Ironically had about 2 hours in New York a few weeks ago and went down to Times Square, then Central Park.

Went in a cafe for breakfast, sat down and looked out the window and saw this:

Watched Mary Poppins at the Birmingham Hippodrome last week, I’d never even seen the film before, but it was really impressive! Some of the stage work was masterful, a really great night, highly recommend.

Saw Operation Mincemeat last night.
Without a doubt, the second worst thing I have ever seen in a theatre. We got cheap tickets in their lottery, I wasn't the one who paid, and I still feel ripped off.

In a funny turn of events, I saw Operation Mincemeat last week and quite enjoyed it.

But I did come away thinking it is probably one of those musicals that would absolutely drive some people up the sodding wall for a variety of different reasons.

It was entertaining in the same way as watching Troll 2, or The Room.
Would have been an acceptable student production, but it has no place in the west end.

Saw Wicked on the West End a few weeks ago. Absolutely brilliant. The set design was truly astounding, for starters, and...Well, let's put it this way. There's a very good reason why they decided to split the film adaptation into two parts. How on earth can you follow on from 'Defying Gravity'?

Because the stage version source material is also in two parts.

Noticed the original cast recording of Hamilton was on at the pictures this week to mark 10 years after it started on Broadway (the recording was done in 2016).

It's really well done and more than just them filming the stage over a few performances as they did bits with the theatre closed so there's plenty of close ups and other angles, and a few bits staged to show characters in the background I've never noticed when seeing the musical live myself.

It had in hindsight an amazingly loaded cast packed with talent, I mean a member of the chorus has won an Oscar.

The screening started with a short collection of the cast and production crew talking about how it came to be and the tenth anniversary.

It's also still on Disney+ if people haven't seen it but don't fancy the trip to the cinema.

Only thing I have in my defence is that I was genuinely unaware of this. Never really had anything to do with the world of the Wizard of Oz as a child due to my parents’…somewhat fundamentalist beliefs, shall we say. We got pulled out of a drama group we were in (one based in a church, as it happens) due to the plans to put on ‘The Wizard of Oz’ and its apparent portrayal of witchcraft and wizardry in a positive light. Not even joking - that’s the justification we were given.
