[The Smiler] Game Discussion

Has anyone else noticed that the overhead view posted on here is not the same as the in-game one (at least for me anyway)?

Have a close look at this picutre and you'll notice it shows the dive loops.

But when playing the dive loops are missing and instead I have the sea serpent roll (if that's what it is known as) but it's called "Pretzel + Dive Loops".

I think this confirms that one of the Top Secret elements is the missing element, covering up how many inversions there are.

I keep missing my millimetres! so annoying!
I used all 10 allowed tries today and got nothing :p It's such a tease!

When scanning this, if you look closely and rotate your device as far as it will allow you, you can see it's not a 2D spiral. In fact it is a 3D tube which has diagonal stripes on the edge and is rotating. The distant vanishing point makes it look like a 2D spiral when looking at it from the front. Maybe i'm looking into things too much, but suggestive of trommel tunnel a little.

Ooo first post.

I've recently had a new ipad and been playing about with AR scans and actually thought it would be pretty cool to have an actual AR scan for The Smiler, little did I know there would be one as part of the app! Psychic!

Anyway, apparently these AR scans are going to form part of the queue line experience so I imagine there will be boards dotted around for guests to scan with there phones, sounds cool!

Loving this. The only other thing that it seems to work on is the AR logo on the Smiler website.

It also works with the regular AT logo. Also, James has just uploaded the full list of images it works with above ^^^.

Just thought I'd add to this from earlier.

The list of prizes is as follows:

1x behind the scenes tour
5x VIP tickets (entry + Fastrack gold)
5x hotel stays
20x pair of tickets

So... not much chance of winning anything then :p

Thought I'd see what all the fuss is about and give this game a chance...
... I won't be voicing my opinion, since all it will do is bring the Wrath Of The Fanboys down upon me once more, and that's getting rather tiresome now.

Which in turn will bring more wrath from the fanboys then actually voicing your opinion, with some lizard people involved somehow! I know your plot! ;)

Games alright, bit repetitive. But its a phone game and free, I'm not expecting a triple A masterpiece! Damn sight better then the overly simplistic, repetitive blight known as angry birds. But that's not difficult.

And there was me thinking I was unlucky after not getting it in 4 go's ;)

Right now, its 39th in the UK iTunes free app chart, which is pretty good I think!

It's also a lot more unique and interesting that most of the top app's in that chart, it deserves its place more than "Emoji and Unicode Icons" or "Virtual Candle"

I will, I'm hoarding 700 points for the achievement atm though. It's quite tedious playing it over and over in one go though, so it'll probably take some time.

That's one way ;-)

I am going to play the game, properly, without tinkering with it's coding to complete it without even beginning. Whoops!

I've almost completed the game. It's so weird!
(All I need to do is scan those things in the park, got all the stuff to upgrade the ride!)

I don't understand why the game couldn't have used he tilt sensor in the iPhone instead of that virtual joystick thing. Would have been a lot easier to control.

Because then you couldn't have played it anywhere other than in your own house without looking a complete moron :p

This really annoyed me also. Even on an iPad it's quite fiddly and annoying, a tilt function would have been much better. That and the majority of these type of games do utilise the gyro in an iPad for tilt functions now days anyway!

It would be no different to playing something like Temple Run in public, which i do all the time ;) :p
