The more I hear about it's roughness and headbanging the more I question myself, "do I really want to ride it?"
You find riding Nemesis OK? I find the Smiler less intense and more re-ride-able than Nemesis, I'm sure once that you ride The Smiler, you will wonder what all the fuss was about with regards to your hesitation in trying it.
I had a ride on Smiler today and it was so smooth, (i always find it to be). Yes theres a jolt on inversions 2, 12 & 13 but its definitely nothing unbearable. The rest is fine in my opinion.
Honestly, I never feel a vibration whether I'm on row 1 or row 4, this is why i get confused when people say it has one as I never feel like it has
I meant in general I don't feel it wherever I'm sat, to be honest The Smiler has regained my Towers top spot.
It was smooth mostly for me but I can tolerate head banging, though Rita was terrible on the back row!
I just find a combination of roughness, crap restraints that crush my crotch and the overall state of the ride makes it one I miss most days now, especially with how it still attracts some of the biggest queues on park. Not my sort of coaster, I like to feel on a journey, the smiler really doesn't do that.
Not sure if this has always happened, I’ve never heard it before but apart from on Friday, but had anyone heard the massive banging noise The Smiler is doing when it gets to the top of the vertical lift hill?
Smiler is enjoyable for me; sure it has it's good and bad days but it's definitely an experience. The theming is good with the effects and it gives you a thrill with the amount of inversions. When you compare it to the likes of Saw and Colossus, it's very tame on the jolts imo.
Where about is the noise coming from @imanautie sent me a video a few weeks ago but I could identify it.
Heard that noise myself recently. It really is a Big Bang when you are in the queue line, I didn't notice it on ride though. Would be interesting to know what's causing it, surely it can't be detrimental to operations or safety. I'm sure the smiler would close in a instance it it was safely related.
It's the noise at 0:09 in that video. It sounds like more of a bang from the pit, and I don't think it occurs on every train, though could be wrong.
It was 5/5 trains I watched. It sounds similar to the noise wickerman was making part the way through the 2019 season.
