Rita no longer routinely gets over 1000/hour.

When I worked on the ride in 2007, there were 2 additional platform staff. The absolute best hour ever at that point was 1060 - and that was with no delay due to disabled guests, ride stops or other and staff working really fast. It was hard work.

These days, Rita typically achieves between 700 and 800. Smiler is typically between 800 and 900. It also has capability to achieve over 1000 but, again, operation cuts over the years have caused throughput to fall.

Surprised Merlin haven't tried to jump on the Marmite hypnosis adverts to try and license the "Marmaliser" or even turn it into "The Marmite Smiler"

To be fair, most of those issues are sorted now. It's been pretty solid the last couple of years.
 
Perhaps it is the quarantine getting to me, but the more I have listened to the entire audio suite, The Smiler soundtrack is probably the best in the resort...

Controversial statement, but I like the music too. I think it fits the theme and atmosphere of the ride rather well. Played lould it really sets the tone for the ride. Not so much the laughing jingle. (I hate that) The piece with the guitars in is what I love.

Maybe my opinion is scewed or somewhat biased from all the drum n bass I've listened too over the years. While The Smiler music is not drum and bass, you can draw alot of comparisons with the industrial sounds.

I think it suits the ride perfectly, noticeable, fun, chaotic, memorable and twisted.
 
I must say, I do also quite like the Smiler's music! I think it works well for the ride, and really adds to that fantastic presence that the ride has within X-Sector!
 
I went to Towers yesterday and i had an almost perfect ride on The Smiler. Everything was fine up until the final inversions which are rough and i was sitting second row middle. The music was blasting out and the Marmaliser was working very well without any issues.
