I think it's likely there has been some form of dispute between TPWW and Merlin. Like others have mentioned it is very odd that he hasn't made any acknowledgement of Oktoberfest in either Thorpe or Alton. Any mention of Merlin parks seem to get brushed off in tweets like these.

I really don't think it's due to corona concerns and I also don't think it's to do with overwork either. I'm not complaining as honestly I don't really care for his content these days, but I still like to see how the channel is doing, and I think this is quite odd.
 
Obviously something has possibly gone on behind the scenes but as with every situation like this we will never know the ins and outs. If you are a full time vlogger you’d be silly to miss out on big events as they produce more clicks but only time will tell what happens.
 
Yeah it’s clearly not COVID related as to why they might not want to cover it so it’s just strange. Not saying he should be on the go constantly but I just do find it rather odd compared to how much he usually keeps on each week. Would be very interesting to know if anything has happened.
 
There wasn't any media/preview event for octoberfest was there? That's usually how event openings are covered.

All the Merlin parks were covered post covid and post accusations, so there don't seem to be any issues as a result of that.
 
I think Alton Towers was like a day after he issued the statement. Maybe things have developed behind the scenes since then. Who knows really.
 
He said that he wants to visit the smaller parks more to keep them afloat.
Also, if you are driving 400 miles to the Scottish Highlands then you probably want a break.

I know Shawn doesn’t drink and when your going to a beer festival event and vlogging it they would want you to try the food and drink but he be more interested in the rides.
 
Yeah missing out on a new event at Alton Towers over its opening weekend I personally think means something has happened, no matter what excuse he gives. He even did a video on Oktoberfest 6 months ago or so, clearly planning to visit, this would’ve been a good 3/4 months before allegations began. Maybe I’m wrong and he will visit, but we’ll see.
 
As I said before any new event at any merlin park is a must do for any full time vlogger as that’s what gets the clicks and views. So obviously somethings happened behind the scenes but we will never know and will just keep guessing. End of the day if he actively don’t vlog during any event then it’s obvious somethings happened so only time will tell.
 
I admit it’s somewhat odd that Shawn’s coverage of the Merlin parks has decreased substantially all of a sudden, especially considering he was so enthusiastic about things like Oktoberfest earlier in 2020, but has barely mentioned them (if he’s mentioned them at all?) in more recent times. I also find it odd that he has only had one visit (or at least, he’s only filmed 1 vlog) to any of Merlin’s properties post-reopening, as he would usually film multiple over the summer, and be at the first day of the events.

However, I don’t think this automatically means that Shawn has had some kind of private fracas with Merlin by any means. There could be all sorts of reasons for the recent lack of coverage of Merlin parks; he could just be having issues booking a pass holder reservation for the company’s parks, or he could just be wanting to give his attention to the smaller parks (this is something he often liked to emphasise and do pre-2020, so this wouldn’t surprise me). He could also be considering the events from a COVID-19 standpoint; he might not want to go to busy events, or he might feel he shouldn’t due to the amount he’s travelling.

I’m not ruling anything out, but I don’t think it’s necessarily wise to jump to rash conclusions either. There are likely other circumstances in play here; even though he doesn’t always agree with their decisions, Shawn has always expressed a great degree of respect for Towers/Merlin in his videos, so I highly doubt that he would be consciously boycotting them all of a sudden.
EDIT: I just had a trawl through the TPW Facebook page, and his official reasoning was that he’s “trying to prioritise visiting as many different parks as possible”, so it would seem he wants to give his attention to the smaller parks.

It’s not like he’d say if there had been crossed words though, and could easily be using that as an excuse. Like you’ve said though, he’s been enthusiastic about Oktoberfest earlier this year and Scarefest usually has 2 vlogs. Obviously still speculating, but it becomes stranger by the day.
