Apparently you walk into a room and Derren Brown appears on a big screen. He says 'Look into my eyes, look into my eyes, the eyes, the eyes, not around the eyes, don't look around my eyes, look into my eyes, you're under. You're going to buy lots of Fast Tracks and pointless VIP upgrades that no one important would ever bother with. When you go home you'll tell all your friends about your amazing day at Thorpe Park. You'll tell them we had short queues, amazing theming maintained to the highest degree, every ride was working and we have lots of live entertainment. Three, two, one... You're back in the room. A couple of doors swing open and everyone walks out through the gift shop.
In seriousness Thorpe Park are one of only a couple of British theme parks capable of investing on this level, and Merlin have done some decent rides and Derren Brown's a great entertainer, so between them I hope they come up with something decent. Derren Brown's a great magician, but he's also very funny, so hopefully there'll be some humour along the way. It's impossible to say at this stage how good it'll be, but I'm certainly intrigued. Something not many British rides have done recently. I'm genuinely excited to see what they come up with. When it does open I'll try not to read any reviews until I ride it, as this is one of those rides I think it'd be good to do without knowing much about it. And if it is something they've been working on for three years, that's a positive, as that sounds like a reasonable length of time to develop a new ride.
