Thorpe Park: General Discussion

Looked at the queue times this afternoon for today and nearly fell off my seat seeing Hyperia on 15 minutes and everything else at 5. Such a quiet day at the park! I wonder if the busy day yesterday scared everyone away.

Shame Stealth has been having issues still. Not seen it open at all today or yesterday. Looking to go first May bank holiday Monday so fingers crossed it's sorted.

Lots of schools had an inset day Tuesday, which always turns out to be particularly busy plus great weather and no MAP restrictions after the weekend.

Whereas today majority of schools in the South went back to school if they hadn't already.
 
I was thinking of BPB and Blackpool airport, though admittedly that isn't much of a "thing" nowadays.

I suspect it depends very much on where you draw the line with your definition "major", both in terms of the park and the airport
 
Well, Stealth made it open on Monday & Tuesday. But it’s been down again since Wednesday. Today it’s stated as ‘Closed today’ and has made it onto the availability page.

Yes can confirm today here no sign of work, couldn't even see any train on track.

It's busy today yet managable overall

Apologies; I did not realise that it was a powered coaster, as I have never been on it! (I wouldn't have posted it if I had known)
 
Just came back from Thorpe Park

Hyperia was 1hr and 30 mins late opening, but its new and there getting used to it so I’ll let it slip! The ride is brilliant! However I do agree somewhat short. The theme… meh, not a lot really to look at and id say it’s very very loosely themed.

Ghost Trained failed to open at all today apart from 5 mins when we did the pre show then got evaced.

Colossus went down to one train causing a 60 min queue throughout the day.

Stealth closed all day but already knew this.

It’s very very noticeable the lack of dark rides bar Ghost Train. I understand the park maybe hesitant to add another after GT however I do feel like the park could benefit from one. A shoot em up’ or an indoor boat ride with a drop? Similar to Pirates of the Caribbean.

I also feel they’re still in a brand identity crisis. I LOVED the era when they were calling it an island like no other and the infinity logo. Now it’s seems a mismatch or branding here there and everywhere. Still not a fan of the corporate branding. Does not say theme park at all! Also I know they’ve done TLC but some parts of the park are really really showing there age now. It seems like it needs a few million threw at it to bring it all up to standard.

I’m going off the assumption that enta used to do the AV at Thorpe too? Or at least someone in charge of it? It’s clear who or whatever department it was has been cut.

The big screen at the entrance was off and no audio.

Saw, you can hardly hear what Billy is saying in the que, the video is playing but the audio is so so so quite you can’t understand what he’s saying. The billy animatronic has seen better days. His mouth movement now is so slow, aswell as has audio being turned right down.

I see they’ve added what I assume is a LED UV light right before the first drop which now spoils some of the view as you can see the other track and what’s coming. The arrow scene was in darkness? Absolutely couldn’t see anything.

Nemesis, someone correct me if I’m wrong but I’m pretty sure the bass cannons have been turned off completely now, and the new speakers that they are using, the big bulky square ones in my personal opinion look awful and sound awful too!

Some of the lighting effects on Walking Dead like the search spotlight were not aligned properly just missing where the zombie was placed.

The Swarm speakers in the station are so so loud that to me personally it’s coming across as distorted.

I really don’t like the speakers Thorpe are using, I’d much prefer if they had the ones Alton are now using.

But again, it’s pretty obvious whoever was in charge of this has either been let go or that department has now gone all together. These seem like such little fixes aswell and fine tuning.

Sorry to moan, but these kinda things can be sorted surely without breaking the bank and budgets. Shame really!
