Thorpe Park: General Discussion

I'm not sure if Drayton originally got it new but if so its younger than most members on here.
On Coasterpedia, it doesn't seem to have had any parks before Drayton although it doesn't necessarily mean brand new. It could've been travelling and it's listed as a different enterprise?

Build Hyperia right and you could of had a dark ride under the supports as well as the coaster a bit like older wooden coasters having buildings under them!
I’ll give you this, the landscaping below looks… right for construction and development.

I was assured by one of the gardening staff that the landscaping around the new coaster would be massively improved over the last closed season in house.
Still waiting...just didn't happen did it?
So no chance of real money being spent on a viewing platform, not when it is the biggest thing on the park, and you can view it easily from the ride plaza, without any difficulty whatsoever.

They added AstroTurf, what more do we want?

Fright Nights tickets are on sale.

Looks like no new mazes but maybe a couple of new scare zones? Not a FN expert by any means so not totally sure:

To be honest the lineup last year was so strong it can remain for this year next year would like something to replace Survival Games

But disappointed that they haven't rotated a maze, good to still have stitches though ,(best maze at a melin park imo). I hope they revamp deadbeat, it didn't really work for me last year, maybe they can expand on that wolf DJ idea. I never really feel like survival games is particularly scary, it's usually good until you get into the arena, then it's just being accosted for a bit before a chainsaw finish.

Interested to see what the new scare zone is, I'm not really sure it's needed though. I'd double down on the crows and make that even more spectacular (more scenery, scripted scenes etc). But I hope whatever they add is of a similar standard.

The return of IT is a bit so so. It wasn't that good last year and it's a really weird cut of the film (and barely in 3d).

I wonder if there's a way to augment ghost train and walking dead further for Halloween. I do really enjoy this event though so I'm looking forward to getting some night rides in,!

Does detonator still fire you downwards with the same force it used to? I've never been on it, but I seem to recall it had a world record at some point?
Unless detornator has changed ride type in its life, it can't fire you down, it is a free fall ride, where the basket lowers attaches using some hooks onto the ride vehicle, then rises to the top and releases the hooks dropping the ride vehicle, it has no mechanism of launching the ride vehicle downwards.

It used to have rams at the top, they've gone but the brackets are there.
