Get rid of the drop sequence all together and convert the ride into an Alien Encounter ride that was once at Disney. That would be great.
I have been saying this since day 1 of this attraction, had it been just a simple knock off with Nemesis theming on it, then I'm sure it would've been all good, hell there is a German Alien Encounter knockoff out there which I might add looks quite good.
If Merlin somehow got something like this to replace Sub Terra then I'm sure it would vindicated the attraction, alas...

Whatever we think rubbish or not, they need more attractions when busy. So I think they should just open it up over peak periods to spread the crowds.

I have only ever done Sub-Terra once. That was in 2014. I actually thought the whole idea of it was pretty cool. And everything seemed to work as it should, so I generally enjoyed the experience. And it was really very scary in some parts too! I definitely wouldn't be opposed to seeing it reopen that's for sure, the park really need it. That said, I personally wouldn't ride it again, at least not while the park have such limited operating hours.

I really enjoyed it, though like Derren Brown's Ghost Train I think the novelty would soon wear off. I probably wouldn't ride it again unless it had a very short queue.I have only ever done Sub-Terra once. That was in 2014. I actually thought the whole idea of it was pretty cool. I still think Sub-Terra is a fantastic concept. Alien Encounter but on a drop tower. Combining psychological suspense with physical suspense. There’s no reason why it shouldn’t work. The sad thing is Merlin already had working examples of both elements of the attraction at The London Dungeons; Drop Dead and Sweeney Todd (which is more effective than the Stitch attraction AE was replaced with). But the pacing was never quite right and the experience never felt complete.
Give me a few months and a bit of budget and I’d love the chance to bring it back.

Isn't the main issue with it down to the restraints?
I'm pretty sure they could get the drop working It should be fairly simple for someone who knows about engineering like a ride technician I would have thought.
Its been SBNO for a long time now though so maybe it's absolutely knackered, who knows. Can't see it coming back now.

You never know, there have been many rides that have been SBNO for much longer that came back in the end...Its been SBNO for a long time now though so maybe it's absolutely knackered, who knows. Can't see it coming back now.

The SBNO acronym is interesting when it comes to Sub Terra. Particularly that first letter. You never know, there have been many rides that have been SBNO for much longer that came back in the end...

Oh, I never realised the ride system was removed. I guess it won't be returning then. I honestly thought it was just mothballedThe SBNO acronym is interesting when it comes to Sub Terra. Particularly that first letter.

I'd personally like to see it return to be honest! It fits with my unpopular opinion preferring The Smiler over Nemesis, I genuinely preferred Sub Terra over Duel and Hex, the theme of the ride and the whole backstory is more my sort of thing compared to Hex's backstory. But yeah, weird that it's still listed on the website, here's hoping it will be back at some point!
I don't think the ride has been removed inside. It was closed due to the restraints and the risk someone could get underneath the lap bar. Adjustments were made but riders found it too uncomfortable so they had to close it again and come up with a new restraint.
I believe they did this and the ride can open but for whatever reason it is starting closed. My guess would be that it needs a lot of staff to operate.
Shame as it was quite enjoyable.

It an ok ride. I think when it was operating they could of done with 2 tones from the ride hosts. Before and after the drop.
Before the drop, a strong military voice ( no shouting) with please and sir/madam. Like they are taking to an commissioned officer.
After the drop a sharp military of move move move you are in danger style that show something has really gone wrong.
The two different styles would work great against each other.

I'm pretty sure the ride hasn't been removed as doing so would require the entire roof of the show building to be removed and replaced afterwards and there is no way they could do that without people noticing, even over closed season.
