Trip Planning: Information, advice and questions!

Hi Guys, first time visit to Europa on the 18th June for 3 days. My other half booked the trip for my birthday, but he's not really clued up on theme parks etc. He's booked our flights from Manchester to Stuttgart and accommodation at Sun Parc Hotel which is right next to Ringsheim station.

Any advice on cheapest way to get to the hotel from Stuttgart Airport or do you think it would be better to hire a car and drive ourselves?

Also, did I see correctly that there's a shuttle from Ringsheim Station to the park?
 
Personally I’d hire a car. That way you can easily get from your hotel to the park, as well as from the airport. We normally find it quite inexpensive to hire for a week from Basel. You’re quite close to the travel date though, so not sure if prices will be higher.

You can get a Baden Wurtemburg ticket for the trains, which allows you to take unlimited local trains in the region all day. In other words, you'll get from Stuttgart Airport to Ringsheim. It will be 3 or 4 local trains (stopping services) and take a few hours - but it's dirt cheap as the ticket is only €25 to start with and you add a few euros per extra person... Look it up!

Use www.bahn.co.uk and your departure as Stuttgart Flughafen and arrival at Europa-Park, Rust. Tick "local services only" and you should see your options, and prices.
 
Question:-

who would it be best to contact or how should I approach making any suggestions to the park?

I recently returned from a fab trip, and whilst I certainly have no 'complaints' - I did think of some suggestions and notes I'd like to feedback to management!

should I tweet the park, or perhaps be a bit more formal and detailed and email someone - or indeed both?

And it's only that I really care about the park so much, that I want to give them feedback!
 
Bought my tickets on Tuesday morning and they arrived in the post today. Just a few weeks to go now as well!
 
How have people found the park entrance security at EP this year? When I visited last year on both trips it seemed to be pretty badly organised and taking a long time to get people through. I should be there at the end of this month but will be entering from the car park side (not Rust side which is effectively security fastpass), so wondered how long it would take at about 9.30/10am.
 
I have a simple bit of advice for anyone visiting EP. Or, for that matter, any place outside the UK:

Don't waste your time attempting to find a cup of tea. You'll only be disappointed. Accept the local coffee and be done with it. Just don't bother. Seriously. I've known the missus trek 40 minutes out of our way to find something that is almost, but not quite, entirely unlike tea.

Don't waste your time attempting to find a decent cup of tea.
The water is hard, and has been through several other people before you.
As a northener you will drink your tea right down to the end, and end up with the dregs of limescale in your mouth.

Every time I travel south I forget this, then wonder why the tea tastes funny! I think it must get progressively worse the further you travel from Scotland.
 
You Northernists may mock our London water, but keep in mind me missus comes from Kent. She's used to water that is the colour and consistency of Tippex. She moans that London water is "not chewey enough!" :p

Personally, I find the best water in the UK is found in Wales. And I say that as a Londoner.
 
Does anyone recommend Europa Park at Halloween, and if so, how many days for? I am guessing it can be mad busy during their Halloween season? One more question, do they have scare mazes?

They do have quite a few mazes. The halloween event is a separate ticketed event, after the park has closed. A few rides are open, usually the Greek and Swiss areas, but it mostly takes place in an empty plot just outside the park.

There are special shows, roaming actors, and booze aplenty!
I'd certainly recommend it if you are in to scare stuff.

EP at Halloween is great, no doubt, and you can still catch surprisingly excellent weather through until mid-October. However, they really do totally transform the park, with endless pumpkins and the Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack pumped all over. As such, it doesn't feel enough like 'normal' EP for me. It can be busy, but as is always stressed in this topic, even a jammed EP is a breeze compared to other parks in similar situations.

I haven't visited this year, so I can't comment, but you just reminded me that the first thing I and my Europa first-timer friends witnessed last year upon arriving at the park, was a security goon uncover a wrap of cocaine on a young lad, who immediately squared up to him, provoking a small, admittedly efficient brawl. By eck', was like being back at BPB in the nineties!

I was taking a video today outside the park gates for my family and a security guard came up to me from about 30feet away demanding I delete the footage from my camera. I refused and said it was for personal use and he wouldn't be on it from that distance away. I asked him if he was going to make the hundreds of people delete their photos that were being taken at the time. He seemed to lighten up then.

Initially he was quite aggressive, but I stood my ground. First time I've ever had any issue with any staff.
 
Sometimes, staff can be really confrontational at German parks.

I've had some terrible experiences at EP and PL with this.

Thing is they are literally front of house as this is the first person you meet as you enter the park, not good on the park when you have security guards acting like this. This guard would be better suited standing outside a nightclub
 
I've heard a couple of stories like that regarding security staff at EP this season. I guess it is in part linked the nature of the job and the threat faced by the park in the world we live in today.

Not ideal though.

Europa have sent out an email opening up 2019 bookings to Holiday club members so I have been pricing some trips up.

Has anyone stayed in an economy room at Bell Rock, and would you recommend it? Looking at the website it’s a good price and it seems that’s it’s just the view you do without in these rooms, everything else stays the same?

Also the waterpark - is this on track for a winter 2019 opening did I read somewhere? I.e would it be open in Dec 2019?
