Usually have shutters on outside which can be operated from within appartmentSlightly random but i've been going through accommodation on Booking.com and have noticed none of the apartments have curtains or blinds in the bedrooms! Is this a local quirk? As we'd be visiting in late May that seems like it would be rather annoying with sunrise before 5am.

The windows will have external shutters.
You won’t be woken at 5am.

My flights are booked!

We did this at 10:30pm, went to camp resort via EP Express from hotel station then on way back there’s a button you press round the corner to the left of the main entrance.EP Express always calls at all stations during (and slightly after) park hours
It is then requestable for usage between the main entrance and hotels out of hours, not sure on exact times.
It was really cool watching my daughter do cartwheels in the warm summer night across a totally empty and lit up EP main entrance as we waited to get our lift back to the hotels!

Thanks Venny, I wasn't quite sure due to the wording. Is it usually open on off-peak weekdays during the summer season? I'm keeping it in mind for my EP departure day, which is a Friday.Correct.

That's good to know, just got to keep an eye on the forecast as I know it can't operate in high winds.I did it a random weekday in April, I would assume summer it'll be open.

So for my birthday it actually looks like I’m going to make it to Europa Park. The flights are as follows
EDI - BASEL 8:55 - 12:00 Wednesday
BASEL - EDI 17:55 - 19:15 - Sunday
I’m just wondering what you think we should do on the Sunday? We’d have 3 full days for 2 park days and 1 water park day. I’m not really sure we’d have time to do a full day again at either park but also don’t want to be just waiting around for a flight to happen. I guess if we hire a car we could leave at 4pm the latest to arrive at the airport for 5pm?

4pm isn’t leaving any margin for error but if you’re happy to take that chance it’s technically fine!

It's an hour drive without traffic, plus any time required to return the hire car. If you're driving out of Rust 4pm rather than exiting the park it may just about be possible, providing you don't have to check in any bags and are comfortable walking into the terminal with 45min to go until departure - I certainly wouldn't be.

If you're taking the train maybe break the journey to Basel up by stopping off in Freiburg for a couple of hours? That's what we did last year.I’m just wondering what you think we should do on the Sunday? We’d have 3 full days for 2 park days and 1 water park day. A couple more questions from me;
1. If you check in online before arrival can you still collect paper park tickets from the hotel reception?
2. Looking on the restaurant reservations section of the hotels app, the Pizzeria L'romantica restaurant isn't listed for Colosseo but Medici & Cesare and Antica Roma both are. Does anyone know if there's a reason it can't be reserved? Bit worried as that's the main hotel restaurant that interests me.

I’m unsure on your first question, but the pizzeria was an entirely walk-in restaurant when I went in 2022, hence why you can’t reserve it. You just walk up and get seated.A couple more questions from me;

On the note of hotel restaurants, Antica Roma is excellent; it’s quite possibly the best buffet restaurant I’ve ever been to, with such a wide range!

Ahh that would explain it, surprised nothing is mentioned on the website about that. Thanks for clarifying!

That sounds promising, as I'm a fairly fussy eater! Part of the issue with buffet restaurants is I don't eat enough to justify the cost.

I have exactly the same issue with buffet myself.That sounds promising, as I'm a fairly fussy eater! Part of the issue with buffet restaurants is I don't eat enough to justify the cost.![]()
I found an ample amount to eat in that restaurant, and people with a greater appetite than myself could really fill their boots in there!

Just thought of a question that I forgot to add... In the Austria area can the gem cave be accessed without doing the adventure trail, or do you have to traverse the aerial sections to access it?
