Bloody hell, I'm tired.

I'll write up properly next week, but for now just to say massive thanks to all concerned for salvaging today when it could have gone so UGH around 3PM - I was all for giving up at that point, but the evening session was well worth it, Carnival especially. And I DID enjoy my costume :D

More importantly, because I'm planning to DIE in bed for the forseeable and because I've ended up with a sulky Tarin to placate (for anyone that asked, no, no we are not, nor will we ever be!!!), I'll be late tomorrow, probably lunchtimeish. I suspect I won't be the only one, but if people update the topic with whereabouts like today, that'd be fab :)
See you tomorrow for more of the same. With power :p

Very poor park ops today. Power went down at about 3pm while we were queuing for CoS, and we all got evacuated from it. As you may be aware, the queue at Guest Services was huge, and from what I gathered, customer service was shockingly bad. However, I'd like to thank Dave for sorting the Q&A out with Pete Cliff, which certainly went some way to alleviating the issues we'd had.

Ride count for the day? Excluding the mazes, I got a grand total of four. Yes, four. As for the mazes themselves? Well, ToTT was very poor for starters. The Sanctuary was quite good, but I think my favourite was probably Carnival.

Also, The Smiler in the dark is a truly superb experience. Very much recommended.

Anyway, I should probably be going to bed at some point - I wasn't thinking straight on the way back and took a wrong turning, somehow ending up in Kidsgrove. :p

Saturday 19th - Well I missed my train, got to towers 3 hours late after missing my first train. Then I almost died trying to get from the train station to towers with some crazy taxi driver who was all over the road, The mist didn't help :/ After spending all my maze money on said taxi I arrived struggling to find the group I met up with blackholescrow who also came in quite late. We then tried to find the group for quite some time but failed, I couldn't do any mazes so we went on The Smiler and there was a powercut, wow my day is going great so far >:D So because of the powercut I missed the group photo and came of the smiler trying to yet again find the group which we did find and I met about 3 people then had to go home so yeah. Overall my day was abit of a fail but it was still pretty funny and I did meet some people. You can't really have a bad day at towers can you :twirly:
On a high note, atleast I didn't get stabbed.

A bit of a weird one this meet, but enjoyable nonetheless.

Highlights:

  • Being incredibly surprised by the quality of Carnival. My least favourite maze last year, now claiming my number one spot for this year.
  • Putting my mind to rest by discovering it was Will who briefly stalked me at Fright Nights and not a randomer.
  • Winding down in ATH after the dismal weather display today.
  • The drive back to Uttoxeter to return home.
  • Seeing some fantastic costumes.
  • The Q&A session with Pete.
  • General socialising with many people on many different occasions.
  • The Smiler in the dark.

Lowlights:

  • Powercut of Saturday.
  • Downpour of Sunday.
  • Leaving incredibly early courtesy of said downpour.
  • Not having the chance to experience Zombies.
  • Not putting in the effort to come in a costume.
  • A very bare minimum display in the Hex vault today.

With thanks to:

Al, Russ and Nat for the lifts to/from the park and the Vane.
Ben. and Russ for not murdering me in my sleep at the Vane.
Dave and the team responsible for organising everything Pete related and all the nice little results that lead to.
Everyone for the general atmosphere that made two bleak Towers days seem more cheerful.

See you all at Fireworks :) [wow, this season has gone far too fast].

That's TWICE now I've written up my highs/lows/thanks and I've erased it instead if copying it. Too tired to bother again. :p
Will just say thanks to those that helped me when I felt a bit down. I really do appreciate it. :)

SPOTTED DICK
I can say that.. right?

Not gonna bother writing an essay, I'll just do the pros and cons =P

Pros

  • Smiler in the dark
  • Carnival being pretty good
  • FINALLY riding Oblivion for the first time in 5 years
  • Air, Nemesis, and Th13teen being better than my last visits
  • Q&A with Pete
  • Some people's amazing costumes.
  • The drive back to Uttoxeter
  • Meeting new people!

Cons

  • Power cut on Saturday
  • Rain on Sunday
  • Rita being utter crap
  • First run on TOTT

Special thanks to everyone over the weekend for being generally awesome! And in particular for those who gave me lifts/accommodation/other stuff. I won't be at fireworks so see you in February 2014!

=)

I. Am. Shattered :p

What a weekend! Power cuts, down pours, hail, and dark rides. A mix you'll only ever find at Towers! Thanks to everyone for making it as amazing as ever :D

Apologies for my swift exit this evening, but as those of you who have me on Facebook will see, my journey home has been, shall we say, eventful, so it's probably a good job I left when I did.

I would usually do some highlights and lowlights, but my bed is calling me, so bon nuit! Maybe tomorrow...

So... Quick summary. Well it was different for sure! The first day was full of extremes. Started off great, became an absolute shambles and then got better to the point I was actually enjoying myself again.

Highlights of the first day:
Meeting everyone and chatting to newer members.
Great costumes by some of the members
Q&A session with Pete
Carnival second run was actually really good

Lowlights of the first day:
Power cut, which I know cannot be prevented in most cases, but sheer lack of communication is a joke
Actors in carnival queue going a bit too OTT during power cut
ToTT being way below par
The Sanctuary being average (Not bad, but not great)
Missed joining the group for The Smiler in the dark
HUGE lack of a fun atmosphere around the park

So onto the second day and it too wasn't great. I know I cut the day short due to the shockingly bad weather, but I just wasn't feeling the good VIBES I normally get from Scarefest, this year.

Highlights of day two:
ToTT was much better and being at the back ,the actors really made me jump
The park had taken security seriously with our friends being there so felt safer

Lowlights of day two:
Our travelling friends being out in force
Cold food from Hot dogs in Mutiny bay
Extreme weather conditions
Leaving early because of weather
Security completely unaware of how dangerous the bypass had become and doing nothing about it

Glad people enjoyed the Q&A.

If anyone wants to know why i looked so tetchy at around 3pm during the power cut, it is because we where meant to have the Q&A at 3.30pm. Seriously never has the sight of Spinball and a deflating battle beam ever caused so much despair in one team.

Thankfully Pete is a smashing guy and he himself (despite the power cut, Mazes not running correct and all the rest) suggested reconvening and came up to the hotels to meet us later in the day.

Anyway despite this Scarefest meet being completely messed up by Power cuts and flash floods i think it went bloody well. Really great to see 60+ people come together and prove that the community works.

I must say I've never been on a meet like this so it's hard to compare to others, but still I have some highlights and low lights.

highlights

- Meeting new people and seeing old friends
- Being surprised by Carnival, a massive improvement on last year
- The Q&A session with Pete (possibly the worst Q&A for phones going off ever)
- All the costumes
- The Smiler in the dark
- Sam and the kiosk boy
- The weathervane antics (Including the great vane race)
- An improved TOTT on the second day
- Relaxing in ATH after the rain and the resultant pyjama party

Lowlights

- Power cut
- My awkwardness becoming my downfall
- Someone writing on my car
- "moist travellers"
- A can of cider exploding in my bag
- Not getting to say goodbye to allot of people on the Sunday and struggling to say goodbye to others.

Thank you to Danny and Russ for really making my weekend, Dave for the Q&A, Sam for making my cry laughing and everyone else who spoke to me. This year has gone so fast. See you all in February :)

As you might know, I filmed a lot of the meet, including a lot of my personal highlights, and also some of the lowlights. I will not say exactly what I filmed (I don't want to spoil it). I tried my best to film as much as I could. Not everyone is necessarily on film, because I often went off with smaller groups.

However chaotic it was though. I had a great time. Sorry I couldn't talk to everyone, but it was basically impossible for me anyway.

The smiler in the dark is great.
The rapids in the dark is great.
Nemesis was great. Air was good. Thirteen was good.
Rita was crap. Rita was always crap.

The VLOG is coming soon. Hope everyone will enjoy it.

I am surprised I actually filmed it all.

Hello all!

Firstly, Thanks to everyone for making me and Amy feel welcome on what turned out to be a slightly fragmented weekend with the random "acts of god" that were out to get us! But felt the need to post here after a rather different approach to a ride I've been on before... a certain member's take on "Sub Terra" had most of us in stitches... enjoy my thrown together picture....
