TST Merlinpool Meet: 22-23 September 2012

What a fantastic first trip to Blackpool! Thanks so much to everyone who attended, so many laughs were had!
Aaaand here we go for meet High and Lowlights.

Highlights!

• First trip to Mandyland and Blackpool Tower
• Valhalla
• Valhalla laughs with Diogo
• Steeplechase lols
• Cramped trams
• Trying out Coral Island's new dark ride. Not bad!
• Unlimited hugs all day!
• Having various photos trying to be taken of me whilst queueing for Mouse. I'm not sure who succeeded in a decent shot..
• And of course, seeing all lovely people again, as well as meeting CGM for the first time!

Lowlights

• Mouse.
• Big One. Worse than Mouse.
• Donny buses running much later than I originally thought
• The entire train situation in the evening.
• As per usual, leaving everyone again!

Thanksies!

• Danny for being my travel buddy and letting me crash at his than being stranded.
• Everyone else for making another amazing day that was much needed.

I'll add more later when I think of some. For now, a long train journey home alone and a well deserved shower.

A pretty crap start and a truly crap ending to yesterday, but aside from that, the meet was great.

Highlights:

• My first visit to Mandyland in a while.
• River Caves: The tilting boat!
• The weather!
• Socialising a lot more than I did at Sarnie.
• Rick Rolled by Holiday Rock FM.
• Meeting more people.
• Drying quickly from Valhalla.
• Minuscule amount of pain on Steeplechase compared to the usual.
• Managing to leave Nash, Streak and Dipper with an intact body.
• Not as much faff changing trains at Preston as I was expecting.

And now for the dreaded....

Lowlights

• The park being busier than I hoped.
• No Avalanche
• My roughest ride on PMBO ever.
• Ordering my meal at BPK, then being washed by an anti-hunger wave.
• Arriving a tad later than expected due to Georgias bus issues.
• Not having a MAP to get the chance to visit the Tower.
• Not having the chance to say bye to people properly.
• Losing my wallet ???
• Misjudging PMBOs queue at the end of the day > Getting on after 7 > Leaving the park after 7 > Waiting for a tram to get to Blackpool North station quicker than walking > Tram not arriving on time > Having to run in a zig zag up the backstreets of Blackpool > Missing the train back to Manchester > Georgia missing the train back to Doncaster and having no choice but to crash at mine.
• Not getting to see the illuminations on the way up to Blackpool North

It was great to talk to some more people this time round, and I'd like to thank everyone for a great day! And thanks to Georgia for keeping me sane on the train rides there and back.

Ah, now that was a fun weekend
I'd not been to BPB since last year's North meet, so it was good to be back.With the exception of only running two trains on Nash, pretty much everything seemed to be running well. The opening hours were extended to 21:00, so a front row PMBO at night, followed by a back row, was a great way to end the day.

I was very impressed with Sandcastle as well. Some fun, if slightly insane slides, wave pool, even a sauna (not hot enough) and steam room (hotter than a pyroclastic surge). The Master Blaster is truely epic, ending with a very steep drop with some crazy airtime.

* Taking Georgia's Valhalla cherry.
* Big One at night.
* Epic breakfasts.
* Sandcastle.
* Finding the most screwed up B movie ever on the TV saturday night.
* General fun and daftness.

Lowlights:
* Nash on one train per side.
* Bit too busy, but I've seen much worse at Towers... Good excuse to have a pint

- Tower Dungeon hilarities
- General banter and antics
- Overall, great company per usual

Lowlights
- Grand National being vastly understaffed with a low throughput.
- Lack of night out on the Saturday
- Rather naff B&B in the dodgy area of Blackpool
