Warwick castle

I have to say I think that's a really good response from Warwick. I was expecting a generic 'We'll take your comments into consideration blah blah blah...', but it sounds positive. It'll be a good move if they change the restaurant depending on the time of year. I suppose Pizza & Pasta could work throughout the summer and then a Carvery buffet throughout the Winter.

A split use restaurant does sound more ideal but it would be nice to offer both options in some form at the same time.

I guess at least they are trialling it and deciding on a more permanent move after guest feedback has been collated - which is a novel move for Merlin :p

Not even I am going to suggest that as a move I would expect Merlin to make.

Their reasoning seems pretty sound to me.

I just wrote that?

I'm currently at Warwick Castle (because I have nothing else better to do today) and there have been a few obvious changes in places.

There's no more Merlin Tower, any sign of the IP has been stripped away including on the actual signposts.

From 21st March, there will be a tea room in the Conservatory.

In one of the Kingmaker rooms, there's now a screen with a projector hidden in a box opposite it. No idea on what the content is.

I never did the Merlin tower but from what I heard it was a bit rubbish? Also I noticed in January when the new T&Cs for the Merlin annual passes came out there was no mention of the Merlin Tower only the dungeons when anything to do with Warwick Castle was mentioned.

The Merlin Tower was underwhelming, I imagine it would've been more fun for people who actually watched the show!

I think this new attraction, called the Time Tower, will be replacing the Merlin Tower, which they posted about on the 26th February.

The Merlin Tower was dreadful. Absolutely appalling. Imagine paying extra on top of the basic entry price for Zufari's preshow, but with a dragon instead of a lemur. That's what it must have been like for the average guest.

Dragon Slayer

Absolutely fantastic evening despite the rain,
upon arrival hosts came out to add interaction before entry and then into the Great Hall for a banquet and drink on tap until departure.

Escorted to the arena for the live show and front row access which was refreshing immersive show then procession back to the castle for the final. perfect with the free alcohol down you!

Sounds great! Warwick is a nice place to spend a day out, in my opinion; but if I'm being honest, I'd pick Alton over it any day. But when viewed in isolation, Warwick is a very nice castle! I really like Time Tower, the Birds of Prey show is worth a watch and Dragon Slayer sounds stunning, too!

Sounds like you had a lovely evening at Warwick!

@Matt N completely agree that on its own it’s great but like you I couldn’t do it week in week out like some people do!

Once you’ve done everything once you know it all, we didn’t even do the bird show but could hear and it was practically word for word from last time.

Dragon Slayer though was well worth the visit, going by Warwick’s facebook you’d think it was a complete shambles but those people either didn’t visit or completely over estimated what the event was.

ok there was a bit of rain and if you weren’t fortunate enough to be enjoying the banquet in the Great Hall then it would be a downer but the jousting arena is covered and finale back at the castle was decent enough to distract you from the light rain.

It’s good to see Merlin allowing events again and the fact it was sold out multiple nights shows the demand is there.

And pop badge lovers there is a Dragon Slayer badge

We are going to dragon slayer in a couple of weeks so glad to hear the good reports. We love Warwick castle and their Halloween event is great!

Had a visit today with the Castle and Ground both open.

It was good to be able to get back inside the Castle, it’s as you expect a one way system and only things that were closed was Princess Towers and Time Tower & Dungeon.
The staff supervising the the rooms unfortunately had their hands full as a couple of young kids were continually going under the ropes, touching things and attempting to get on the Queen Anne Bed - staff had patience of a saint but I’d of said sorry you’ll have to leave after the second alarm.

Caution to anyone who normally parks at the Stables, the one way system is operating in the opposite direction! The council have decided its in the interest of Covid

Oh and Luna drive in cinema is looking pretty good on the lawns.

Surely the Dungeon isn't open?

Have you managed to exit via the gift shop yet? As apparently you may need to queue to leave the site today.
Managed to get out without issue fortunately.
Can understand the issue of exit though as you have to queue up before you get to turnstiles and wait.

They could let people who have no interest in buying exit via one of the side gates and bypassing the shop - they were using both the turnstiles and Coach House Restaurant as entry points this morning.
