What developments will happen after 2018?

This is true. I personally don't want Towers Street to disappear its one of my favorite theme park entrances.I can't see them putting any major rides in the towers street are if they choose to redevelop it, it's too close to houses outside the park property.
I totally agree @The theme park geek it would be a massive shame if the closed towers street, it would be something Merlin would regret.
I think they should keep the monorail too, as it builds up anticipation at the start of the day. I love the little glimpses of the park on route through.
What I would like to see is as follows:
CATCF re themed using the entire old boat system (supposedly it's still in place). Themed to what ever CCL would be rethemed too.
CCL re themed to a high standard with or without an IP.
New 3D multi affects dark ride on coaster corner (Spider-Man ride type).
New flat for Dark Forrest as well as loss of all the fences, towers to come up with proper themed solution other than blocking everything off.
Restoration of the gardens, including reopening the Swiss Cottage as a restaurant.
Spinball moved to Katanga Canyon and rethemed to fit.
CBeebies expanded to Spinballs old plot.
New flats for Submissions old plot and replacement of Enterprise.
Floorless Top Spin with effects to replace Ripsaw.
Landscape and improve parking and coach park along the front of the park, get rid of the bloody gravel.
Not going to happen but one can dream. None of this will happen Sw9 will take charge over anything else.

Yeah, i do like walking down the Street. Plus, there's a lot of services on the Street that would have to be re-located.This is true. I personally don't want Towers Street to disappear its one of my favorite theme park entrances.

I would love to see the 3D dark ride but that would be super expensive and Towers should use all of the buildings that have been made for dark rides that are not in use.I totally agree @The theme park geek it would be a massive shame if the closed towers street, it would be something Merlin would regret.

Love the idea of re-opening the swiss cottage. I could see this happening as a trade off for SW9.
I would like to see spinball scrapped or moved off park. To make way for a family coaster or a water ride.
I really would love to see a re-theme of CCL.

This is true a new shop would have to be built along with many of the other services on the park.Yeah, i do like walking down the Street. Plus, there's a lot of services on the Street that would have to be re-located.

If some crappy, pokey, souless entrance was shoehorned into a random corner of the park like they did at Chessington, and Towers Street and the monorail are removed, then the downgrade from a world famous Theme park to an expensive hotel complex with an old fun fair attached would be complete.

2020 will be the park's 40th anniversary. Most parks do something big for a year like that, but then again most parks open after 4pm![]()
That should be the parks catchphrase for the year
Drayton might do something big as well, as it will be their 70th!
Draytons 70th year might fall on the same date as zamperla's product release date
Welp, it ain't gonna happen anyway, so...![]()
I'm not so sure about that. Merlin are very focused on the "Midway attraction" market these days, with smaller attractions that require smaller investment, but deliver high returns (the companies investor reports say as much).
The plans for the new entrance were to build those type of attractions around the hotels, to offer evening and off season attractons. The Waterpark already does this, Amazing Golf tries to, but fails.
I could imagine things along the lines of indoor miniature golf course, trampoline park, indoor skydiving, real snow skiing (probably a bit ambitious ), a restaurant village adding a different dimension to the "resort" and driving up hotel demand, spreading out traffic peaks etc.
Moving the entrance to get people walking through this stuff would drive up income. That feels like a Merlin vision to me - a focus on driving up income, over improving what you have to drive customer satisfaction.

There is a new offering in 2019. If you're clever enough it has already been confirmed online.

I think he means this.Bradley Wayne has updated his LinkedIn profile to include a 2019 attraction coming to Alton Towers, however this could be a Cbeebies Land expansion or a CCL retheme but at the minute it could be anything for all we know.

This is an idea that I think they might be working on. Would be nice to see more midway attractions and ts restaurant for the evening. Maybe this could be situated on Galactica's car park this would have great links to Towers Street in the day via the Monorail and it would be close to the second entrance by the roller coaster restaurant and they could open Nemesis and Galactica in the summer possibly.I'm not so sure about that. I personally think they could get people walking through this in the night if they opened Nemesis and Galactica and the Midways and by offering some form of live entertainment.

Its merlin, they will never open rides at night. Maybe if someone gave nick the idea of making rides an up-charge, but no, they wont open them after park shuts, sadly.

They did do it a few times last season to coincide with the Roller Coaster restaurant but this was only Galactica. Its merlin, they will never open rides at night. Maybe if someone gave nick the idea of making rides an up-charge, but no, they won't open them after park shuts, sadly.
