Right, finally got to Alton Towers to ride The Wickerman today. Went through the queue 3 times in all between 40 to 60 minutes so not too bad, annoyingly the queue reduced massively whilst I was having lunch. My 2nd time queueing ended with the ride being closed whilst I was in the station.
Really like the ride itself, great first drop and it keeps its speed up throughout. The Wicker man itself is a great bit of themeing, though the fire is a lot more impressive for watching off the ride than on it.
The preshow was good, just about the right length.
Only issue really was the trains constantly stacking with all 3 being in the station and workshop, hardly worth running 3 trains if the operations continue like that.
Not sure how it ranks yet, will be back again in a few weeks for another go. However they've certainly built a great family coaster which the park certainly needed.

Yes I am aware it'd be down to all the haze from the ride.
Same thing happened last year for the first few weeks when The Gruffalo at Chessington opened. Only thing was that fire alarm caused the evacuation of both Gruffalo and The Vampire.

Forgot to ask, does anyone have any idea why there was a person dressed as the Pepperami sausage hanging around outside the queue line all afternoon? It was a bit random to say the least.

Am 99.99% certain Towers don't sell chewing gum either - have not done so for years, for exactly the same reason as Disney. Anyone remember the Air "Chewing Gum Tree" in the queueline back in 2002, before it was unceremoniously removed with Mr Chainsaw?Well Disney don't sell chewing gum in order to limit the ammount of it spat on the floor.... Maybe don't sell pens?

Am I the only person who cringes when someone refers to the Wicker Man themeing structure as 'Big Bob'?
Just because the staff gave it such a naff, unimaginative nickname doesn't mean that people have to act like sheep and use the same name.

Believe me, when I first saw it yesterday I thought it was the latter!OMG that is hilarious!
However, it does pose the question - is that really a sausage, or something else?!!!

Sounds like it tested this morning whilst guests were waiting for around 45 minutes, and then staff sent all guests away from the queue.
Oh dear!

Absolute nightmare. GCI to the rescue surely?

Maybe Towers didn't or couldn't afford the after support package from GCI? they just left them the instruction manual and told them to get on with it.
