Wicker Man - General Discussion - Part Two
Pleased to say it was pretty much walk on today, and running well.
Lots of completely empty trains running round.
Yes, was there today too. Operations super click, a queue never had time to even threaten to build up.

Wickerman was a walk-on today. I seen the best thing in the pre-show, hen the head appeared a kid burst into tears! He must have been about 8 or 9... but it is actually quite terrifying.
The ride is a good fit. The themeing is amazing, but the coaster is so basic. The more I ride it, the more I feel... 'meh.

Was wondering why the lift hill chain motion has changed? You can hear it clunking, then jumping up at the bottom? It's changed since the last time I visited...it would just feed through nicely. Has anyone else noticed this

According to Alton Towers who replied to the tweet it is perfectly normal. I saw it last Scarefest and like that clip it was raining and very wet. Maybe something to do with that?

Anyone think Wicker feels slightly faster this season? Rode near the middle and was very impressed, then in the back row which was brilliant.
It's quite possibly overtaken Nemesis for me as the best coaster at the park. If they're both walk on I'd rather whore Wicker Man tbh.

A bit of both then. Most woodies tend to run a bit better once they've broken in for a year or two.
Either that, or you were having a slow day.

Its always done that. Its clearly a design feature.

I’ve had a couple of near front rides this season and it definitely rides better than last year. Even at the front

With the lift chain it doesn’t seem to always do it, but towers have said it’s normal.
I was there that day with Dean and it was making a right noise, banging every few sections along then bottom of the runner. Actually looked like it was going to come off the runner at some points. Also as it enters the motor room it was almost hitting the top of hole in the building.
Then on my next visit it wasn’t doing it at all and was running fine. So guess it just depends on the day or time.

I'm pretty sure that it isn't normal. It looks like a slipping gear somewhere, or an issue with the chain meshing onto the sprocket. That said, if the chain or gearbox as to fail the anti-rollback would hold the train so there is no danger.
I'm surprised that Towers haven't had GCI back to fix this. Although it isn't a safety issue it is surely putting stress on a gearbox whic will cause it to break eventually.
