The Curse at Alton Manor
There's a house at the heart of Alton Towers that has suffered a terrible fate. It's been seized by the spirit of Emily Alton, a once curious child, who has warped over time to become the source of the unfortunate events that have plagued the park's haunted house.
For over 30 years, Emily has lived in a Dolls House in the queue of the attraction, biding her time. And the successful completion of the Duel against a zombie horde gave her the perfect opportunity to take possession.
Now Alton Manor is her house and it seems that Emily Alton is keen to play a game with riders, who dare to venture inside her dolls house of terror to endure Emily's machinations.
History
The Curse at Alton Manor has its origins as The Haunted House, which originally opened in 1992. Indeed, the current ride contains many callbacks to the original incarnation, for example the ride's antagonist, Emily Alton, and several set pieces were first introduced in this first incarnation.
The ride was overhauled in 2003 to become Duel - The Haunted House Strikes Back and guests were armed with blasters to fend off a horde of zombies that had overrun the house. In 2022, Duel was repossessed after 20 years and closed to be reimagined.
At the time unnatural activity was recorded in the area and it would seem that the subsequent investigations have revealed that the property was cursed all along.
