Work has taken place over winter leading to the removal of the (obtrusive and awful) Space Adventures, with concrete in place for what looks to be the rumoured CBeebies expansion / coaster.

I really hope if this is a kids coaster on concrete that it has some pretty good theming or some fake grass to hide the bare concrete. :/ They can just about pass it off with The Smiler, it would look awful in a kids area. With it being a simple job to build hopefully we'll see more time and thought put into theming. No doubt the BBC have been working closely on this development the past year so we should see a similar quality to the rest of the area.

Not sure if this is widely know, although as most would guess, there's a new family advert coming this year (maybe linked in with the new CBeebies Land attraction?) and it is titled 'The Feelings Contagious'. Read into that what you will.

I see they are sorting last years buggy parking problems, with a huge buggy park. ;)

If that's the size of it, then at most we will be getting a small travelling coaster like The Beastie was. I have a feeling though that this might not even be a coaster. Just isn't much room there. It it was taking up the entire of that space, then you might be able to get a small Gerts kids coaster in there.

I think the manufacturer could be more budget end for this, a first for a Merlin purchase I reckon.

The concrete pad looks similar to Indy blitz at heide park which is a Zierer Force one kiddy coaster but could also fit one of those horrible zamperla kids coasters on it as well.

That would be humorous but I'm not expecting it to be Poundland, rather B&M of the other kind on the budget scale. I think they just want something to mop up some of the numbers around CBBL and if a kiddy coaster was suggested, then nothing too high end will have got past the accountants.

I hope this little expansion has more than just the kiddie coaster, like a new kiddie flat ride. I can't help but feel the queues for this coaster will be horrendous, especially as no matter what it's likely to have dire throughput, so anything to help ease this would be much needed.

While a cbeebies extension would be good for people with small children, it would continue to neglect the 7-10 year old age group who can't get on most of the bigger rides but are too old for the kiddy rides.

Twirling toadstool, Charlie, ice age, mine train, Rapids. Are these suited for 7-10 ages? Although I agree that is quite a short list!

Yes there are rides for 7-10 year olds but not too much in the thrill department. Thirteen, spinball and mine train are the only 3 coasters that anyone under 1.4m can go on.

It is possible to build a modern coaster with a restraint system that can suit smaller people, (eg thirteen) so I hope altons next big coaster will bare in mind that kids like thrill rides too. My lad was desperate to go on the other big coasters this year but I reckon it will be at least another 2-3 years before he is able to do so at Alton.
