That hill is 111' tall! Now let's look at the bigger picture... That hill is taller than Saw - The Ride, taller than The Smiler... In fact taller than the majority of Coasters in the UK!
Indeed! At least unlike it's Canadian sibling, they haven't put the brake run at this stupid altitude though. ;)
 
It's still got an elevated, flat brake run initially though, no idea why it couldn't just be one long, descending section.
 
A thought occurs, none of these 300ft+ coasters by Intamin or B&M attempt an air time hill straight after the first drop like on their 200ft+ models. It's probably for cost reasons. If you can create the same experience with a 200ft coaster why build a massive ~250ft second hill alongside the 300ft lift hill when you can have smaller air time hills in later.

Likewise the two coasters with 400ft drops finish as soon as they've started.

OK that confuses me slightly, and I am by no means an expert here, but surely if there's a crane building the first drop to have it then build the first hill directly after as an airtime hill wouldn't make that much difference? Especially on a coaster this big.
 
I imagine it's probably just materials cost. Supports are the most expensive bit of a coaster, so if you've got a 300' hill, followed by a 250' hill you've got basically twice as many massive supports as if you have a nice low hill instead.

Maybe you're right, but I assumed that on a structure this size an especially large crane would have to be used for the higher points (one that would cost quite a lot to hire) whilst a smaller, cheaper crane could be used for the rest. I don't know though, maybe I'm just overthinking things a little.

But that was only really a second point, all of the combined construction costs add up to a lot, taking into account supports and groundworks as well.

I do agree to a level with the latter point there, but I think when you're making one this long, and look at the first over-bank, it's hardly small, they could have made a brilliant air time hill there. I just think it would knock a lot of the wind out of a ride that's meant to clearly be a speed merchant, with a couple of pops of airtime.

Let's remember I'm quite sure they've already got a B&M airtime machine there, so I think this was designed to be about speed, with a little over bank, little occasional air time pops, and some diving underground.

Seems well balanced in terms of what it seems they wanted to build.

Looking forward to POVs to see how it may ride!
 
Space as well, I'd imagine, unless they curved it, the lift, drop and hill would take up a very long stretch of ground, much better to make in turn 90-ish degrees and lose a bit of speed before the hills start.

I adore that almost clamshell style support on the over bank.

I don't what it is about this coaster that's captured my attention so much!
 
Just a pity that it also has seat belts like Cedar Fair's other B&M Mega Coasters.

Really? Leviathan copes fine without them, but they really kill the throughput on Behemoth. :(
 
Didn't realise Leviathon doesn't have them, strange. I know they've been added to Diamondback at Kings Island and I think a Intimidator has them also now.
